If so, please clarify: how many words does it speak? how long did it take to train? how was it trained? are the words/phrases clear?

I think that is what my pet parakeet Daisey Sue died of. She let out a large sqauk, eggs started falling out of her all over the place, then she fell off her perch and died. Is that a normal disease for an older female bird?

What bird is really playful but still okay around kids 6+? My tiel is sweet but doesn't 'DO' much. I see all these toys (paper, bells) and know my tiel won't play with them much. He doesn't do much with all the ones he has, just chews a wee bit.

Do you yourself have a bird? If so, how playful is it and does it nip?

I am breeding Indian Ringnecks. The female has laid her eggs. A couple of days ago I found a cracked egg on the bottom of the cage. Why would she do this?

i have always wanted a bird. right now i have a dog and a cat and live in a house that isnt very good for a bird (the heat and air doesnt work very good, in the summer it gets really hot and in the winter it gets really cold) but im hoping to be moving soon and i would really like to get a bird. i have done some research on the quaker parrot and the african grey and they seem like very complicated birds for a first time bird owner. what kind of birds are good for first time bird owners but are still really smart, are capable of talking and are very loving?

My Cockatiel is a light yellow and white. His head and crown are yellow and he has orange cheeks. What kind of bird does this make him? Also i've been trying to get him to talk. I also have two budgies. The budgies are loud and chirp a lot. Would it be a good idea to keep him beside them, or to move him away into another room. He does have a mirror in his cage as well if that will affect your answer.

Something affordable that is happy alone or 2 at the most...something enjoyable to listen to. I love my tiel but would like something soothing for downstairs. Something that makes nice sounds or sings, not squalks.

given that there are thousands upon thousands upon millions of birds, why do you never see any of them on the ground dead? where do they all go? You never see them dropping out of the sky! Is there some kind of bird graveyard that they all fly to, to die?

I have a cockatiel and would love him to drink from a water bottle, like they have for mice and hamsters. Have any of you actually seen a bird drink from one? Mine uses a water feeder with spout basically and makes a mess.

Mine does. It sounds like a tiny falsetto voice rooster. I wonder if my bird is special, or if this is just what cockatiels do.

How can people be so stupid about the care of their birds? here is a list of stupidity

Not taking a bird to the vet
Feeding only seeds
Not quarentining new birds
No fruits/veg. in the diet
Dumb people trying to breed, when they dont' deserve the love of a bird

I hate stupid people who think they can own a bird, but SUCK at taking care of them! come on people, if your going to get a bird, at least take care of it properly

Ok i just got a new parakeet. He was a little scared when he came but then he got used to it. It looks like its a few months old. I bought him some toys and he plays with them but lately he has just sat on his swing and doesnt even eat or drink. And i started hand feeding him. Does he need to learn to eat from his trays??? Or drink because he is still little.

I noticed this morning that my cockatiel was rubbing himself on a branch. I was just wondering if anyone knew what he was doing and why? He's about two years old and I think he's male but he's never been sexed so I'm not positive on that. He was kinda sitting on the branch and rubbing his bottom back and forth. This is a serious question and I would appreciate serious answers only. Thanks much!
