he's only a little baby. we didnt think he would live in the first place because he ate a grasshopper! that takes up much of his stomach, so he couldnt eat much. we were suprised he lived the night.

From a past horrible experience it sounds like this bird is going to die within hours. The best thing you can do is wrap him in a warm blanket, but other than that I don't have any suggestions! Sorry! Good luck!

Its really rare that wild bird thats sick actually recovers after humans try to help. Ive had about 6 sick birds in my life and they all die. Like another person said, they go into shock and die real easily. Its probably better that way anyway...dont stress out over it too much. You did the best you could do...thats all that matters.

stop try to feed the bird if he eats nothing is wrong if he doesn't he is injured with dove's sorry there really nothing you can do due to the cruel practice of releasing farm raised doves in the 100's into the wild but you could try to find a tube such as straw and to use this as CPR if hurt badly put if out of its misery dont let it suffer

Sorry Alisha, but it's very difficult to treat a wild bird - they tend to be so susceptible to shock that touching them can literally scare them to death. There isn't much you can do except keep the bird in a quiet safe place, away from predators, and hope it can recover on its own.

Merck Veterinary Manual has an online page. For the last 10 years or so it has dedicated a lot pages to uncommon zoo/wild animals. Maybe that can help your Vet.

...well first of all, the bird might be REALLY sick and have a type of bird flu, that can kill them as well as people so if i were you id be very carefull handling it, use gloves and dont touch your face or things that go in your mouth... or it could be dying of old age, starvation, dehydration, or just blind.Phone your wildlife center and tell them your deal.

Don't you hate it when you're trying to be nice and things get screwed up !!! Once they get to the point of gasping for air with their beaks open...it's only a matter of time before they're gone...and it wasn't your fault....I always say "no good deed, goes unpunished !!"
