I just remembered that we're talking about a vertibrate-consuming bird. That's just fine for them (unless they contract an incidental infection); birds that consume vertibrates expel indigestible materials in the form of small pebbles.

I treated him like one of my parrots the first time that I thought this answer over.

When a bird swallows something inedible it wil spit it out later. Seagulls are pretty big; they can handle a penny. The object goes into the bird's crop, where the food gets mushed up before going into the stomach. Birds often swallow rocks for grit to grind their food in the crop. That's why I'm not worried about the penny.

Most likely nothing. Sometimes however the stomach acids in some animals will react with copper very violently and will kill the bird.

The other person that suggested giving the bird an Alkaselser is a sadist. Just one will kill the bird in a very very short time as it will litteraly blow up the bird guts.
