How can people be so stupid about the care of their birds? here is a list of stupidity

Not taking a bird to the vet
Feeding only seeds
Not quarentining new birds
No fruits/veg. in the diet
Dumb people trying to breed, when they dont' deserve the love of a bird

I hate stupid people who think they can own a bird, but SUCK at taking care of them! come on people, if your going to get a bird, at least take care of it properly

here is something that people should know

It is NOT cruel to have a pet bird. god people! If anyone took a look at my lovebird, first thing they'd say would be he had TOO much room in his cage. His cage is 4 times as big as its supposed to be. People, stop with the stupid comments your just proving how immature you are

I see the same stupidity all the time in all sorts of pet owners and breeders...horses, dogs, cats, rodents, etc. I'd like to take all the incompetent pet owners and treat them like they treat their animals.

The person writing How can people be so stupid is a little immature. There are people out there who have a new bird or would like a new bird but have no idea how to care for it. Of course, when the bird is sick or has a behavior that the pet's human does not understand, the human usually asks questions to find the correct answer. There aren't many people who would try to breed birds if they don't know how or don't want to learn. One answer is not necessarily correct in all cases. Please have respect for other pets' humans and try to give constructive criticism. There is no place in this forum for the words stupid, stupidity, don't deserve the love or suck. Who knows, maybe some day you'll ask a question and someone will come back with your words. How would you feel if that happens to you?

Bird and pet owners, please call the vet, read everything you can on the internet or in pet magazines and ask friends who have the same type of pet you do (all bird owners should stick together). I've had birds, dogs and cats since I was a child and I loved all my animals and I know you love yours too or you wouldn't be here. Have a great day and may all your pets be fun and healthy.

I once had an angry client demand his money back because his Conure only lived a week, showed up with cage, food, toys and dead bird in tow. Wanted me to pay for everything including the toys. I asked him if the food in his hand is what he had been feeding him. He boldly replied yes. I pointed out that he had been feeding him grit and gravel, posted in large letters on the container. He sheepishly left. THAT"S why questions need to be answered. No matter how STUPID IT IS FOR YOU OR I, THAT BIRD NEEDS US TO ANSWER THAT CRAZY QUESTION. Another changed a water bowl to a rabbit water bottle because he saw someone else do it, also wanting a refund months later. I asked had they showed the bird how to use it?? Maybe left the instructions?? Also left sheepishly. What can you do?? ANSWER THE QUESTIONS!! And hope for the best. Also the reason I no longer breed.

I definitely know what you mean and agree with you 100%. But I love birds have 6 of the, 3 cockatails, a starling, a double headed yellow amazon, and a blue and gold macaw. They are treated so well, let me assure you, do take them to the vet, give them plenty of seed, different types of foods, vegetables, fruits. They get plenty of exercise, vitamins in their water. They have never been mistreated. So, I don't qualify for the stupid person. at all. Just wanted to let you know there are some of us out here who treat birds extremely well.

If people didn’t breed parrots most breeds would be extinct now. Any animal loved would know that. Every day three hundred thousand acres of rain forest are being cut down and used for farm land a day, the natives to South American kill the birds because the are considered pests to their fields, and hundreds are being shipped out from African, S. America, Australia and Indonesia every day. we are most breeds last hope to one day be released, when people stop the deforestation.

They are not so much as Stupid as uneductated, most people think you can buy a pet and feed it and water it and it'll take care of itself, whereas if they are going to get exotic pets they really should read up get books/advice

If someone buys a pet the shop/owner should find out what they know and give them pointers

I am sorry to tell you that it is not just birds, but all pets. People tend to jump into owning pets without first educating themselves about the needs they have. I always encourage people inquiring about any pet to read up on it, visit pet shops or people who already own that kind of pet, and most importantly not buy on impulse.

People that own birds SUCK anyway. Why would you keep an animal who's sole purpose is to fly caged up for your enjoyment?

I'm no PETA psycho, but that's pretty sick and sadistic if you ask me. Get a chicken if you want a bird.

unfortunatly your statement is true not only to birds but toe veryhting on this planet... i actually wated a show on TLC the other day about "wild children" so its not only animals its kids also....
I really do wish liek you there was someway to prevent these stupid people from gaining access to things they can harm, but unfortunatly we can't.t ehre will always be thoes people out there.. i guess its the downside to the balance of life.

Maybe you can do something to help these stupid people. Educate them instead of putting them odwn. Don't forget that you weren't born with the knowledge and you had to learn too.
