I moved to Italy and bought an apartment. The houses here aren't insulted like in the U.S. They have brick walls and plaster; that's it. My bedroom which has one outside wall gets kind of cold in the winter. I have new windows and the cold doesn't enter through them. The whole wall just gets pretty cold. I was thinking about covering that wall with drywall. Between the two, I want to put a sheet of material which is about 1/8th of an inch thick. One side seems to be of aluminum and the other a spongy type material. I think this is normally used when putting in a parquet floor (between the sub-floor and the parquet).

Do you think this might work and make my room at least a couple of degrees warmer? Also can I attach the drywall directly to the wall using screws and anchors or should I put up studs like in the good ol' USA?

Hi, I have an electric shower Triton T200E which has its power pack in the loft ( which heats the water) and remote panel in the shower cubicle with all the normal shower controls is showing low pressure warning light and I have noticed that it has an overflow pipe from where the water is coming out ( which is going to the waste pipe) when the shower is switched on. Is it safe to use as the pressure is very low and it is not very good without the good pressure. Could it be an air lock in the system and what can be done to resolve it. Thanks.

My ceiling fan motor in my apartment burned out. My manager says this is because I used light bulbs that were higher than 60 watts. Is this possible?

Recently, when I moved I accidentally took a small chunk of wood out of the top of my desk. Is there a way I can patch this? I am completely clueless when it comes to things like this. . . so any simple suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you in advance to everyone who answered :o)

I have a very old 5 gallon can of oil based Kilz primer that was not sealed properly and is now kind of chunky and I think worthless. It doesn't even have a handle anymore or a good fitting lid so transporting it will not be easy. The can is nearly full, how can i get rid of this?

My wife and I have recently purchased a New Home.

We currently have nothing but dirt in our backyard.

We are thinking about trying Fake Grass as an alternative to Real Grass.

I am writing this question to find out others who have a fake lawn and how they like or don't like how it looks and how long it lasts.

Thank you in advance for your time and comments.

Regards,

Dirty Backyard

A strange one here. My mum wants to put my stepdads ashes on the garden but has been told that they are mostly made up from wood plus the varnish and would harm the garden. Is this true? Does anyone have any 'sensible' answers please

Can anyone tell me why when I flush my commode, the water level is very low after filling up? But, if I push the handle a little like I am going to reflush, it lets some water come back in the toilet and then I let go. Why is this? Could it be inside parts on the tank, Or something else? Plumber would be appreciated. TY..
