How do I clean a spa filter ?

I don't have the cleaner but can I use something else?

My spa salesman siad it could go in the dishwasher
Never tried it
i have a five gals bucket and bleach water and simple green , let is sit and rinse,
one more tip instead of all the chemical, i use bleach and baking soda , pool and spa

you DO need the cleaner that you buy at the pool supply store
the filter sits in this stuff for awhile
nothing else works to do what it is supposed to do
