Do I need to call in an electrician and move the outlet or can a longer cord for a stove be bought and added to the stove to reach the existing outlet? I am short just 16 inches from where I want it moved to the new place in the kitchen.

You can check at a local appliance store or local appliance repairman to see if there is a longer cord, but I doubt it. Code requirements only allow certain links for those kind of appliance cords

Your stove/oven pulls a lot of amps an requires a certain size wire and a special plug like the one you see on your wall. An electrician will have to move the plug and probably fish a new wire down the wall for the new plug.

Install another outlet. An appliance of that size should not be run long-term on an extension cord. An extension cord snaking across one's kitchen in and of itself dangerous as well as unattractive.

It is best not to push it with electricity. Add an additional outlet. Play it safe.

The longer cord may be possible but it will increase your energy bill. It will probably be cheaper and maybe safer to call in an electrician and have your kitchen rewired. This way you can also add new outlets for other kitchen appliances that may require extension cords now.

You can replace the existing appliance cord with a longer one. However I would recomend having an electrician install another receptical.

Yes you can possibly get a longer cord. Check at a Lowes or home depot. You will have to remove the old cord and replace it with the new. Not a difficult job.
