They are sitting in the tree right outside my big window. There are about 4 of the tree. This tree is completely ugly for 3 seasons, until in the spring for about 1 week it has beautiful pink blossoms on it that are just breathtaking. But other than that, it is just an uly tree.

These birds have blackish/greyish wings, backs, and heads, while they have bright breasts. One of them has pink, another yellow, some brown, and another greyish.

I was thinking they were finches, but I am not sure. They are pretty small. I want to encourage them to nest in that tree, is there anythin I can do? Like leave breadcrumbs or strands or string for nesting materials? Any ideas?

Please don't suggest the many and varied plastic miracle baubles that are available as they simply do not work as well as the manufacturers would have you believe. Thanks!

I moved house a couple of months ago, and have recently noticed a strong smell of oil around our boiler, which spreads throughout the house if doors are left open. The boiler was serviced about 6 weeks ago, with no reported problems. My husband reckons the smell has always been there since we moved in but I am convinced its a new smell. Having never had oil central heating before can anyone advise whether this is normal, or whether we are slowly getting poisoned by the fumes!

How do I "properly" attach a 3/4" thick plywood bar top to a brick based bar? Right now it looks like the bartop is laminated mdf and it's just sitting on top of the brick bar base(yes brick AND mortar). The brick base is "L-shaped" (so is the top)...and just sits on top of the brick wall base...not very secure by any means. I would like to change it to a 3/4" plywood top, stain it, seal it, and most of all "SECURE" it to the brick wall base. I hope I have given enough info and thank you very much, in advance.

I am thinking of lodging a formal complaint against the above company and contacting watch dog. Have any of you had any experience with them?

You know the ones...

They come to your door and GIVE you a raffle ticket offering a FREE carpet cleaning session as one of the prizes. They take your phone number then low and behold 1 week later you have won the carpet clean!!
Then turn up and demonstrate their cleaner, dont actually clean your carpet at all. Then they blackmail you by saying that they are on the leader board for sales and that if they sell the cleaner to you then they will have won a trip to jamaica or something!
So then you buy the kirby and they get you to sign up for a service contract. This is an annual service but every year they will phone you 2 months before the service is due so that you end up paying for an annual service but only getting 10 months cover.... so con you even when you have bought the thing!
Just wondered if anyone else had had dealings????

We have installed a new roof on our house. One problem is that we can't get the b-pipe to pass inspection. The b-pipe is the one for the water heater. I was once told by the inspector that we need a collar. But I don't know what that is.
