Is it possible to attach window boxes to a house with vinyl siding/windows? I have found one bracket that claims to attach to vinyl siding, but no description of how. Anyone have experience with this?

They make boxes out of foam that you can cut the back to your fitting. Or if you have any construction experience you can take your siding off in the spot that you want and buy a thing called a "J block" Basically it is a block of vinyl with j-channel attached to the sides, looks good once you get it in.

I have vinyl siding & put up two boxes last summer. Very easy. I bought special window box brackets from big lots, around $6.00 per pair. They screw into the house and are adjustable to hold various sizes of planter boxes. Very sturdy. I've seen them at walmart too, but cost a bit more. I have wood behind my siding, if you have brick though, they won't work.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.
