I wish I had a couple of feet of snow outside! Decks are meant to hold lots of weight, just think off all the people that stand on it at one time. And I'm sure your deck is weatherized properly. It couldn't hurt to remove it though, especially if your expecting more snow.

if your deck is up off the ground it might be a good idea, snow gets pretty heavy my father has to shovel the roof a couple times a year for that reason.
We have a deck but it's at ground level so we only shovel the half near the front door to get in and out, we leave the rest because we get too much snow to kill ourselves shoveling all of it every year.
Also if your deck is closer to the road you'd have to worry about plows pushing the snow against it and things like that.
Generally unless it's well up off the ground I'd leave it, your back is more important then a pristine deck

It's definetly a good idea to shovel, leaving snow on your deck can cause warping, discolouration, or by the time spring comes, even rotting of the wood. To protect your deck, shovel now, and it might be a good idea to re-seal it in the spring.

that is a good idea. my 2nd story deck was covered in snow and we heard it 'creeking' making odd noises. It turned out that one of the support boards on the underside was sliding out of the joist hanger bracket. If the snow was heavier I believe it would have collapsed our deck! It might be a good idea to get the snow off because if you have a big deck it can cost some serious cash to build a new one. Wood is sure dang expensive these days.

Its a good idea. My ex husband melted all the snow off our balcony, by using his pressure sprayer and it gets hot once the boiler kicked in and he melted all the snow everywhere on the roof the yard and drive way.
People that drove by thought our house was so hot that it melted all the snow it was funny. We had the only hosue on the block that looked like Snow never hit it.
If you have a hot or cold spray washer you can do anything.

issues to contemplate - if it rains/partly thaws, it receives heavy, then extra snow comes on accurate etc. it really is how my buddy weights the decrease back wheels of her truck. It also makes it slippery in case you opt for to bypass out that way. relies upon what the elements is going to be. 12 months i become ill and did not shovel my walk for a lengthy time period, and that i become sorry for something else of the iciness, because it became to ice.

Wouldn't hurt to do it, to alleviate any warping.
