do i find a nice comforter and then take the colors from there for the walls, or what? i don't mean jungle tropical. just soft seashore and bech house look. don't like the stark white that i see in the magazines. i want to do the walls in a soft color with white trim. but i'm not sure of the color i should go with. aren't there some colors that are more soothing and relaxing that you should put in bedrooms? remember, it's a beachy kind of feel

Hi,

I'm a first time buyer and have found an old style 2 bed terrace house with period features for a very good price. The problem is it's a complete dump and would new flooring throughout, a new kitchen, new bathroom and fully decorated.

I'm brand new to this and very keen on the property although not sure i should be taking on such a challenge with zero experience.

Does anybody care to take a wild stab at cost to renovate to a reasonable (livable) standard?

Also - does anybody know any good websites or books which i could refer to for advice on this?

Thanks.

Here's the deal, my management company ( I live in an apartment in downtown Boston), installed a carbon monoxide alarm this past fall and since then it's randomly gone off 5 times - a month apart, each time. They claim that it's impossible for carbon monoxide to be there since the whole system isn't going off...but I mean, 5 times in 6months??? Each time I've called them and had to have someone come shut it off, take it down, and promise me they'll install a new one...and then the same thing happens. Anyone know how I can test to see if there really is carbon monoxide in my apartment? Anyone I can call? eg. fire dept This is just getting ridiculous....

I have a bathing suit thats made of 80%nylon, 20%spandex. It has faded within a month and I was thinking of dying it back to the original color instead of having to buy an entire new one. Would rit dye work on it? How should I dye it?

My washine machine isn't filling to the same level as it used too, I have had this problem for a few years now, I bought a washing machine from a shop, the owner tested it out for me and the water level was visible in the door, when I got it home the machine was not filling to the same level. I would like to solve this problem because my clothes do not smell clean and are hard when dry and sticky when wet. Its not the machine because I have had 2 others, I have a miele at the moment and they are supposed to be a good machine. Thankyou.

Do they simply have more "counts" or are they made up of several layers? I am just a typical guy who doesn't know much about fabrics, a simple explanation would be just perfect! Thanks in advance!

mother, recently passed away and I am the new owner of her beautiful Croton that was my grandmother's.

I do not have a green thumb by any means and I am quite nervous that the plant will die in it's new home.

I water it once a week and have it in the corner of my kitchen near my patio door. It receives indirect sunlight.

Recenlty, the leaves have been dropping off, slowly and I am not sure what to do about it.

It did receive a "shock" a few weeks back when another plant fell on it and kind of pushed it off kilter. Two days later, I moved it to my house.

Subesquently, I put some stakes in it to make it straighter.

It looks healthy so I don't understand why the leaves keep falling.

Any help you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.

I didn't really make much of an effort at my previous garden but I'm moving now and would like some ideas as to how to manage the new one. It's pretty long though I'm not sure of the length as I haven't had to chance to measure it yet but it's not very wide. I love looking at pics of garden in magz etc and they look so beautiful and I'd like to get some suggestions as to how I can get my garden to look pretty as well as chic so I can host some late evening parties in the summer evenings. (I'm so excited! lol) Also some suggestions on the plants I can plant that will look pretty and will flower by summer if I plant them now?
