I have a bathing suit thats made of 80%nylon, 20%spandex. It has faded within a month and I was thinking of dying it back to the original color instead of having to buy an entire new one. Would rit dye work on it? How should I dye it?

I don't think the dye will help. Swim suits are not be to washed with detergent. The chlorine in pools will take the color out also, make sure to run the suit in a rinse cycle (without softener) to get chlorine out of suit and hang to dry. This will preserve the life of a swim suit for years. Good luck to you.

Rit dye as far as I know is pretty safe on most fabrics. Just remember to bleach out all the color before dying it again. I didn't know that the first time I used it so it didn't work but after I learned to bleach it first it made a big differance.

Don't waste you money. RIT won't work on totally synthetic fabrics. Buy a new one. By the way, it hasn't faded. The chlorine in the pools has bleached it.

maximum bathing matches are made up of synthetic components, or cotton mixed with synthetics (polyester, lycra, etc.) and could no longer take fabrics dyes. in spite of if it were a textile that would properly be dyed, prints can take dye inconsistently in accordance to the bottom values of the colorations, so it would likely no longer cover flippantly.

check the instructions on the pack the dye comes in and if you do use home dye on your clothes dont forget to add the correct amount of salt to stop the dye running.

it would make sense.... if you dye it and it doesn't work, you can always get a new bathing suit. so either way, you'll end up buying a suit.
