Sage is in, but in my room & master bath I have a sort of tropical, bamboo thing going. I painted my rooms an olive green color. Sag Harbor by Waverly. Not too dark, very relaxing & it goes great with creams, browns, etc. If that's not your thing, then take a color you like of something in your room, such as the comforter & go with that. It'll make the room look put together. Or go to lowe's.com & use the virtual painter. I found the waverly there, they also have a designer palette called Seaside Retreat with alot of nice colors.

You could paint the walls a light/sky blue or a light sage. You could even use both colors....the blue on three walls and the sage on the fourth...or vice versa. Keep the ceiling white.
You could also, like you say, find your bedding you like and then take a light, soft color from there. I've seen many beautiful seashore decorated comforters with many light, soothing colors in them that would be easy to match. Once you get the paint on the walls..the fun part will be decorating the room with your beach house look. Bet it will look terrific. :)

i would choose an aqua blue, like the color of the ocean, and find a comforter that you like and just go from there. the white trim sounds nice. check on ebay for any accessories, bedding, prints, wall hangings. a big fishing net on the wall with a few of those glass balls would be cool. on ebay, type in the search box tropical decor, then you can check for tropical bedding. or type in beach, then select bedding...
sounds great..
good luck

i'm an artist too. i'd say that the black, pewter, red, nude scheme is decidedly non-inspiring. Blah. So of both, i'd bypass with the 2d.you need to leave the single wall darkish red, and paint the different 3 walls a light-weight spring eco-friendly. that would lighten it up, yet nevertheless leave a touch of punch. you need to upload some upload-ons to pull all of it mutually (pictures, etc.) yet another one which would look cool with the red is a light-weight peach colour. I easily have that colour in a unmarried of my rooms and it sounds like the sundown in there. i'd in my opinion stay faraway from pink on the walls. My buddy has a pink eating room and her toddler cries every time he is going in that room. this is truly too a lot for a mattress room--no longer very relaxing. solid success!

Neutral colours would be nice for walls and floors , like pale sand, warm creams, or gray/blue, some driftwood accessories would be lovely too, and a bed quilt picking up on the colours with maybe a hint of sage green, aqua, blues, beiges and maybe a hint of a stronger colour such as wine. There are paints on the market too which actually have the texture of sand in varying grades. ( and one of my husbands photographic pieces lol, depicting a seascape scene, hes a photographer and i have a few myself displayed in my bedroom )
