The manual says that when the washer is installed originally to remove the bolts and throw them away. I kept them. Do I have to reinstall them for a 200 mile move?

I recently bought an old house in Northern N.H. It has an unfinished basement, the basement floor is just sand actully. My question is, under the kitchen (20' x 18') there is a 3 ply 2x10 beam supporting the 2x8 floor joists. The problem is the base of the metal columns holding up the beam are just dug into the sand about 1' and are not resting on concrete. I was wondering how big of a concrete pad I should try to put under the base of the columns?

They arrived courtesy of a gift of organic vegetables and now I can't get rid of them. I've tried hanging up one those old fashioned sticky fly papers but they're extremely adept at avoiding that. In desparation I've tried Fly killer and they're immune to that, too.

The dog jumped up and it was turned on just before the lite. I woke up with the smell in the house very strong of propane. What could have happened if I did not wake up?

My bathroom is above my kitchen. I want to install those inset halogen spotlights. Do I have to take up the bathroom floor to put them in, and can I do it myself easily or should an electrician do it?
