Do they simply have more "counts" or are they made up of several layers? I am just a typical guy who doesn't know much about fabrics, a simple explanation would be just perfect! Thanks in advance!

They have higher thread count, just like sheets, the higher the thread count, the softer they are. Go to JCPenny, they have good quality towels, but as far as price goes, you get what you pay for. Egyptian cotton is really soft too. PS- Never buy sheets with a thread count below 300, they are really scratchy....

Contact your local 5 star hotel. It is flattery to like the products they use and many times they will give you the name of a supplier. Now dealing with the supplier is different...they want you to buy in bulk (I have used some as Xmas gifts to meet the quota). Or even better if you know someone in the industry have them buy extra and reimburse them on delivery. I can always get the best mattress at 1/2 the cost!!!
