My 15 yr old daughter experienced loack jaw 3 times today....It has happend occasionally in the past but today was the worst. She was eating a peice of chewy candy the first time, drinking the second and gasping the third, they all happened within 15 minutes of each other. I was actually on my way to the ER because she was in pain and couldnt close her mouth.

I didn't think so. So why do some people make an appointment with me and then call the day of their appointment and say that they "just made" another appointment with someone else - the hair dresser is the most common - and they have to change their previously scheduled dental appointment because it is a conflict with the appointment that they made ten minutes ago.

Get a time machine, people!

SOME people think it's okay to push my hands away so they can answer their cell phone in the middle of their dental visit. NINE times out of ten I hear this end of the conversation:

"Yeah, I'm there now."
"Yes, I'm in the chair."
"No, I mean I am in the chair with the dentist right now."
"She said WHAT?"

I don't hear the rest, because that's the point at which I get up and find something else to do for at least five minutes.

Go here and look at the photo for my dental group. This is an actual unposed photo and i think it's hillarious. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Sams_DentalCS/

had all my wisdom teeth pulled 2 weeks ago, my question is when will those holes be filled in with gums? i went to my surgeon today and he said give it another week, im skeptical because alot of people here say it takes SIX MONTHS.... i should add that mine were an easy pull they were NOT impacted he didnt have to cut any thing he just yanked em out... reason i ask is i want to wait until the holes completley heal and are replaced by gum so i can start smoking again.....

If you have show up for work at 3:00 and work is a 15 minute drive on a good day, why did you make a 2:30 appointment with the dentist? And why didn't you tell anyone about this until you were sitting in the dental chair at 2:30?

Seriously. What are people thinking when they do this?

I asked my surgeon if I could keep them, he said sure, but to get all the stuff off the teeth to put in a peroxide/water solution. Well now all the stuff is off the teeth, do i still keep them in the solution? Or do I just let them dry out?

My dentist wants to put metal crowns in my child's mouth. I am concerned about long-term poisoning dangers.

Please let me know if metal crowns are safe, or if there is an affordable HOLISTIC alternative. I am also concerned about the comfort of my child, i.e. being teased around other kids when they see 4 metal crowns in his mouth. Kids self-esteem are easily affected, leading to long-term emotional issues. Thanks for your time.

Is it possible to fix an open bite without surgery? I.e with orthodontics? My dentist told me that it's not possible without surgery, is that true?

I ask because I seem to remember something about correcting it.

My teeth are fine but I went in for a cleaning about three months ago and since then, have been back to the dentist 3 times because my teeth ache if even the slightest cool or heat gets near them. My dentist gave me flouride and sent me on my way. I returned a few weeks later because it didn't work. She repeated the process and I went away again. Today, I went back and she said I should just be careful what I eat and it will probably get better. The x-rays are fine but the pain is still there.. She said not to use Orajel because it will hurt my gums. Since I don't have extra money to go to a different dentist - - I wonder if anyone knows of something I could use to stop the pain. I realize that sometimes cleaning does cause sensitivity but this is into the third month now.
Thanks, M

i dont know what colors 2 get. i am not girly so i dont like pink. im not getting clear cuz they end up yellow. i am kindof gothic but i dont like the idea of black braces 2 much. i have brown eyes and i am not getting brown braces. i do want color though. our school colors are blue and red but im not into that crap at all though i do like blue, just not dark blue or any blue(or other color) that really stands out. im kindof leaning on light blue+light green or light blue+silver. they dont match anything i wear though cuz most of my clothes r grey, black, red, and a little bit of dark blue. i already have a lisp and im really worried that it will get worse by getting braces. i cant get rid of my lisp(its just how my mouth is formed and i get made fun of) but i dont want 2 be more of a loser. nobody in my grade really has braces except 4 the losers that people hate and make fun of. all the popular kids have perfect teeth and never had braces. im really worried about getting made fun of
