Well, this may sound pathetic,(because I'm 14 gahh) -- but I'm deathly afraid of going to the dentist. Since I'm going to the dentist in a few days because of a very small cavity, I want some stories or stuff about what happened..

A few months ago I moved from the South to the Midlands. As many people know it is almost imposible to register with a NHS dentist and for all my efforts I have been unsuccesful in doing so. Never really had a problem with my teeth (until now) as they were looked after where i used to live. Over the past few days I have had a toothache develop that is now absolutely raging. I cannot afford private care - what can I do ? Please no silly answers such as pulling it out with pliers, there must be another way.

Two of my wisdom teeth (fully erupted) are being removed because of cavities.

I grind my teeth so I wear a mouthgaurd while sleeping & I tend to suck on it in my sleep.

What can I do to break my habit of sucking before next Thursday? or to protect my wound from the sucking?

I'm so scared of the pain from dry socket!

The first few hours were okay, but once I got to sleep some the pain came when I woke up. Not all of them hurt just the lower left. I'm not really sure how bad the swelling is. Also, my throat hurts like hell when I swallow.

I had tears come out of my eyes b/c I couldn't drink anything without huge pain both in my extraction point and throat. I just took some pain meds and I think it's working b/c I can bear the pain now. Is this normal? How do you know if you have a dry socket?

I'm having 2 removed Thursday?

How long will I likely be in pain?

How long till I can eat normally again?

I know it varies, but any information would be great.

I whitened my teeth several days ago, and I have whitened my teeth several times before, without problems. This time, however, my gums were very sensitive, and have slowly worsened, and are now to the point where I can't eat or talk without extreme pain. My gums and the part that connects my lip to my gums, are in extreme pain. I don't know what's wrong, and if I should just continue numbing it and wait it out, as I have been told to do, or if it's serious enough that I should make a dentist's appointment. Please help!

Hi, i am so so so scared of the dentist and fillings but despite that i still go every 6 months and keep good care of my teeth. i have never had a cavity before i was 16 -last year i got my first surface small filling done. after that i kept even better care of my teeth as to avoid any more fillings...
but an x ray showed a small bit of decay between my back tooth and the one next to it!!
my dentist said its very small and easy to fix and wont neccesarily get bigger just yet as its early and he couldnt see anything on probing. I am soooo scared though - how do they fill in between teeth? if its small will they still drill lots away?

and also- i am going on holiday on sat. and may have an opputunity to do it on the friday before we go- is that a wise idea or do these sorts of fillings usully hurt and take time to settle???

sorry for the ramble but i am terrified of the dentist!
