If you have show up for work at 3:00 and work is a 15 minute drive on a good day, why did you make a 2:30 appointment with the dentist? And why didn't you tell anyone about this until you were sitting in the dental chair at 2:30?

Seriously. What are people thinking when they do this?

Jefflawdog, I'm sorry you feel that way. I run on time. If I keep you waiting more than 15 minutes, I credit your account. Istart at $15 and then credit a dollar per minute for every additional minute you have to wait. Your time is important, too.

What KILLS me is when someone made a 30 minute appointment with me 4 weeks ago and they call in the morning (Thank you for that, though.) to ask if they can get in earlier, because they just made an appointment somewhere else and they are not going to be able to make their new appointment if they keep the appointment they made with me a long time ago. I think I'll post that in a new question if I can figure out how to word it. Maybe something about cell phones, too.

Yesterday was "August the tooth," wasn't it, AnnOnnyMouse?

Dentists DO run on time. However, there are emergencies and "high maintenance" patients who devour time that was not planned.

Patients come 15 min late and then take cell phone calls while in the chair.

Patients bring babies or little kids who need to be tended to.

Patients ask for cigarette breaks during treatment.

Patients want to tell you every detail of their last vacation/grandchild/birthday/home remodle.

Patients scream "owwwwwww!!!" when you haven't touched them yet.

Patients want to tell you what they read on the internet about unnecessary dental treatment.

Next time you find yourself complaining because a dentist "screwed with you", think about the inconsiderate people before you who delayed your appointment time.

This happens to me all the time. A pt. will show up for an hour long appt. and say they have to leave in 30 minutes for another appt., work, etc. What really burns me up though is the pt. who shows up 20-30- minutes late for an appt and then they get mad when you say you don't have the time to complete the treatment. A doctor sets up an alotted time for a procedure to be done and if you're late that cuts into the next pt's appt time. Thanks for letting me vent :)

I heard that some people only make 2.30. dental appointments because that is the only way they can remember them (tooth hurty).

C'mon...everyone books their dental appointment at tooth-hurty!

Maybe he thought it would be a short appointment? Or maybe he thought that dentists NEVER stick to their schedule anyway so he thought he'd screw with you the way you screw with everybody else!
