I have a five year old, who is getting ready to go to school, I'm getting ready to make her a dentist appointment, but for about the last year, she has had some really horrid breath. She is a very picky eater and doesn't eat much when she does.

I have 3 canker sores on my lower jaw at the front part of it. So if I bend down my lip I can see them. I've been brushing my teeth constantly, flossing, and using mouthwash. They've been there for almost 3 weeks and it seriously starting to hurt. I know they are brought on with stress but I didn't have any stress 3 weeks ago. Is it infected? What is your way to get rid of canker sores?

I just did an incredibly stupid thing.

I was was emptying a CO2 cartridge and when it was empty, I got an unresistable urge to touch it with my tongue. I don't know why, but I did it. It was just the tip of my tongue, and as predicted, it stuck to the frozen over end of the cartridge. In a panic I yanked on it and got it detached, but not without the surface of my tongue still stuck to it!.

Currently its been bleeding for 33 minutes. How long will it continue on like this? Is there any serious problems with this type of damage to my tongue? When I eat, is there any serious problems? Will the skin of the tip of my tongue ever grow back? How long is the grow-back time?

Any help is well appreciated.
-thanks.

My mom had gingivitis/gum disease. Does that mean I'm going to get it too? She always told me it is hereditary, but I've just been reading up on it, and it seems it happens when you don't brush your teeth well or floss. She had to get major surgery on her gum when she was in her late 30's. Am I going to get it too? What can I do to prevent that?
Thank you so much!

Hi,

I had a small corner of my molar tooth break 6 days ago. Not much pain but was very worried about it. Went to my usual NHS dentist 3 days later and he said it should be a simple repair by filling.

However, since the pain has stayed and at times is worse than others. I'm taking 2 paracetemol 4 times a day which makes things bearable for a few days I imagine.

He took the filling out and has packed it instead. Says there is no reason why it should still hurt. Would have liked an X-ray however :-(

He said give it up to a week and see if the pain subsides.

Could it be a nerve problem in the area? Will this die in time?

How long should I give it tbefore going to the expense of a root canal?

There appears to be no infection, but should I get a course of anti-biotics just in case?

I really don't want to lose this tooth as I have lost my other main molar on the bottom left side and don't want to have problems chewing.

Thanks,

Lee.

what are some things girls do that annoy you, gross you out?
is it annoying or do you like it when a girl is the one that talks to you more often, i mean not all the time, but just so that you dont always have to be the one starting the conversation with her.

I have a major problem with gagging in daily life: eating, drinking, even just talking and choking my own spit. But the worst is when I try to brush my teeth. I've tried all sorts of paste but after about 15 seconds of brushing, I'm gagging and choking. It often leds to throwing up.
Is there any kind of mouth wash that will numb my mouth or throat so this doesn't happen? Or exercises that can help me?
Thanks.

Also, is it normal for teeth to get more crooked with age? This person has never had braces but has taken excellent care of her teeth, never had gum disease or anything serious like that. Her wisdom teeth were removed at age 20.

I had braces for 2 years in middle school and I am now 23 and my teeth have shifted a little and I now have a cross bite. Do you think invisalign will be able to fix this or will I need metal braces?

radiating up to my ear. I got a little white sore between my cheek and gum (on the fleshy part) which the dentist said was viral - not bacterial. The inside of my cheek has a very visible line from where my teeth are encroaching on it also. I started taking Amoxicillan about four days ago as my gums were extremely red and irritated, along with Advil. Strange thing - when I initially started taking the Advil - I NEEDED it every six hours - then every eight hours - then every ten hours - then every 12 hours - and last night I made it through 15 hours before it woke me up. I do not take it unless it is excruciating. Thing is - my teeth are fine now (after a few adjustments to the temp filling). No pain when I eat on them. Gums are real pretty color. I just don't understand what is going on with my cheek and jaw. Also, the little white spot is going away and is not as painful. Any help would be appreciated.

On April 14th I visited a new Dentist for what seemed like a routine root canal. It took over a half an hour to numb this tooth. I kept feeling her probing, finally she completes the root canal, in one visit. I have been to 4 other dentist since, and in pain since then, I missed work, suffered trauma to my face and spirit, my nerves and my stomach, I've lost at least 10 lbs, from not eating and I'm nauseus from all the meds, still on painkillers and antibiotics. The last oral surgeon realized why I was in so much pain on a scale of 1 to 10... Suicidal. The root canal had been done over by a specialist and The first oral surgeon had to put in a drain after it started to swell. I am dreading the surgery next week but they said I must heal the infection before they could the Apico..I am still in pain, I cannot touch the lower part of my jaw without feeling sore, Do I have any recourse against any of these Dentist?

I had a root canal done yesterday on upper molar and ever since I am having serious sinus pain on the side I had the dental work. Should I call the dentist or would it be best to see a doctor? Has anyone else suffered this after root canal treatment?

I went to the dentist 3 month ago and fixed all my teeth, so i don't have anything on the outside, but it still hurts. I also grind my teeth a lot, may be that influences it. What should I do?

i recently lost all of my insurance well i was suppost to get braces this summer (my dentist wanted me to wait because i WAS pregnant) well i was suppost to have them because my teeth were pushing into each other and hurting really bad... it has been 3 months and my teeth are hurting even worse, i have never had a cavity or anything, they just are moveing, my dentist told me that the pain will go away as my teeth start to get straighter, i was wondering if i were to just go to the denstist without insurance will they make me pay for the braces all up front or do they allow you to pay monthly or how does that work? please just serious answers only... thank you.

I have an issue with the left TMJ. I was told by an oral surgeon that it's not TMJ disease but a bite problem. Basically I can't open my jaw all the way (like to bite a sandwich) unless i "unlock" it first. If I try to open my mouth without unlocking that joint first, my bottom jaw kinda gets stuck until i unlock it and then i can open my mouth. The OMFS guy told me to get a bite plate made which would realign my bottom bite and allow more room on the left side for my mouth to open. I wore it faithfully for about 12 hours per day for 9 months and all it did was in the morning allowed me to open my mouth, but as soon as I would eat something, my jaw would click and I'd be back to the locking and unlocking thing again. I'm only 23 and having this issue. Could orthodontics help this problem? Does it sound like this is a bite issue? He said it isn't a joint problem but could turn into one if I don't fix the bite. i now live in another state so can't f/u with the same guy. suggestions??
