I just did an incredibly stupid thing.

I was was emptying a CO2 cartridge and when it was empty, I got an unresistable urge to touch it with my tongue. I don't know why, but I did it. It was just the tip of my tongue, and as predicted, it stuck to the frozen over end of the cartridge. In a panic I yanked on it and got it detached, but not without the surface of my tongue still stuck to it!.

Currently its been bleeding for 33 minutes. How long will it continue on like this? Is there any serious problems with this type of damage to my tongue? When I eat, is there any serious problems? Will the skin of the tip of my tongue ever grow back? How long is the grow-back time?

Any help is well appreciated.
-thanks.

Have you ever heard of styptic? You can buy it as a pencil or a roll on, probably in the shaving isle. If you can't find it ask the pharmacist. I used to bite my cheeks really badly at night, and this stops the bleeding. I think it may have alum in it... At least that's kind of what it tastes like. Anyway, it cauterizes the wound, and it is totally safe to use on your tongue. It will taste bad and sting, but it will make it better SO fast. Yes it will grow back, unless you took off an awful lot of it. As long as you cauterize the wound, there should be no problem eating, but if you don't be careful, if it gets infected or ulcerates, you will have to make a trip to the doc. Try the styptic, I can't remember what the roll on that is easiest to find is called, but it is marketed for razor nicks. Good luck.

Wow, I have never heard of this kind of injury before. But if it has been bleeding for that long, you really should go to the doctor. You should go anyway to see if there is anything that needs to be done, because I don't think many people on here will know what to say as it is so unusual.

I hope you get it sorted without any permanent damage!

Ouch... that must hurt.
I can't stop laughing.
I think you should put an ice pack on your tongue to stop the bleeding. If it doesn't work then go to the ER.

PLACE A COLD WET TEABAG OVER THE BLEEDING SITE FOR 30 MINUTES.
DO NOT TAKE ASPIRIN -- IT WILL KEEP BLOOD FROM CLOTTING.

Go to the doctor, and drink lots of water.

But seriously, WTF! Why'd you lick CO2? Pretty dumb, lol.
