I have noticed several of my friends have something black on their bottom teeth. I would think that it is painful, but they still seem to consume candy? I am thinking it is a form of decay or something, but I am not too sure. I don't think it is related to hygiene because I know they take care of their teeth, but I can't help but notice it. What is it?

I have chemical sensitivity,(I have even been hospitalized due to an allergic reaction to paint fumes) so MCS IS REAL ! basically I cannot walk into the standard dental office without reacting to the air freshners,or the carpet,or peoples perfumes,or the smell of the flouridated water,or toothpastes.I wanted to say some money since I had no insurance,so I went to a doctor giving a promotional deal 20 mins after sitting in the office,i was turning white, had a hard time breathing, got nauseated and sick to my stomach,so I had to leave with the secretary asking me if I was gonna be okay.I found a dentist who has a scent free policy and uses mercury free methods and other things, but he is very expensive 280.00 per filling because they are the white fillings,im paying out of pocket, what should I do????

I am losing the enamel in my front tooth. Is there any tooth paste to restore that. I do grind my teeth at night so I do wear a mouth guard just not all the time. Is this the cause of it?

Hi all,
I'm getting braces on May 16th and i have to have a current cleaning before they can put them on, well i'm in new state so i have to go to a new dentist.
How much will a new patient Exam and Cleaning cost me? Excluding insurance or dental plans.
Normally this wouldn't be a concern as i care for my oral health, it's just that i already had to put alot of money down for the braces and ortho x-rays so i don't have that much more in savings to throw around at the moment on my teeth as i have other bills to take care of.
Also i'm just getting braces on the top teeth and i've only notice one small problem with one tooth on bottom, will they make me fix the problem before they allow me to have the braces even though it's on the bottom?
I'll fix the problem a month later when i get caught up financially.
The one tooth is a tooth restoration needed i was told, but nothing else except light scaling needing to be done.
Thank you in advance for all you give advice :-)

i have had toothache now for 2 years, i have seen 3 different dentists, it first of all started on my left lower, i had unsuccessful root treatment, then had to have the tooth removed, i was still in pain, my current dentist has opened up ALL the teeth on the lower left and filled them (another root treatment on one of them) still no joy. ive been referred to the ENT clinic, who confirmed it was nothing to do with throat or ears, he then referred me to the dental hospital and facial clinic, but i need to wait 26 weeks on an appointment.he then filled a tooth that was decayed recently on the lower right, and now this side of my face is in agony!!! :( i have had 10+ courses of anti-biotics, i just dont know what to do!

went again to the dentist and he removed the old filling and put a new one. After only 2 months the new one split in two and started hurting again. I went again and he put a new filling in. Now several months later that whole area is extremely sensitive and I cant eat very hard foods on that side. Also, it aches from time to time still. Should I remove the tooth or what? Its hard to always be forced to eat on one side of your mouth. The gums get sore and tender from the constant assault(lol).

I told my orthodontist whom is also a dentist that i had gone to an orthodontist prior to him and she had told me that i was going to have teeth pulled out. but then i moved which is how i ended up with the orthodontist i have right now and he told me that no teeth need to be pulled out... yet my bottom teeth are very crowded and i even have a short chin... is it because my bottom teeth are crowded? or could it be something else causing my short chin? so should i suggest he pull my teeth out to get rid of my short chin, that is my main concern. oh and i currently only have top braces.

I ust learned from my denist that I need to have my wisdom teeth taken out. She said first I will need to go to an orthodontist and he can see weather I should have them taken out before I have braces put on or after the braces are off? I am just so terrified of the experience. What does the oral surgeon do? I have heard that they put you to sleep with using nitrogen or they inject your veins with something? Are you completely asleep throughout the whole ordeal? How long does take for a person to wake up after the procdure is over with? Does the oral surgeon give you something for the pain afterwards? I am just so terrified right now. My parents and I are deciding if I do need to have them taken out it will be in mid July. It will help me if you told me if people told me their experience when they had their wisdom teeth scared.

I had my two bottom wisdom teeth removed 1.5 weeks ago. The left side slid right out but the right side was taken out in 3 pieces and took them over an hour. Thankfully I was on conscious sedation and don't remember much of it. Anyway, the right side developed dry socket and I had to go back last Monday to get paste packed into the tooth. How long is this paste supposed to stay in? I'm still in pain and my ear still slightly hurts.
