Laughing gas like in the dentists office??? It doesnt make you fall asleep. you get high off it and it feels like your tired. Dont know how much it costs but most insurance will cover it if the doctor feels its needed. It can be dangerous if its not used correctly.

You don't fall asleep with laughing gas (nitrous oxide). It just makes you feel weird, euphoric and a little dizzy (in a good way). You are still thinking clearly (for the most part) but you feel like you are far away from the dentist chair. You close your eyes and it's like you can have an out of body experience or something. You are able to block out what is going on and just think about stuff, like lucid dreaming where you control the 'dream'. You are not literally dreaming or asleep though. It's very relaxing. You can still hear what's going on around you but sometimes the dentist's voice will sound like it's coming from far away. I used to get it EVERY time I went to the dentist, even for simple fillings, because of my anxiety as a teenager.

I don't know how much it costs but it is a bit extra. My mom's insurance usually covered most of that stuff. Since I've been an 'adult' and not covered by her insurance, I haven't gotten the gas. It can be dangerous. I once had a VERY bad experience with it where they turned it up too high. I became paralyzed (I tried to lift my arm and it just wouldn't move) and I was unable to respond to the dentist and the assistant. They kept asking if I was 'ok' and I couldn't talk. I felt my heartbeat slowing down and I started to panic and thought I was going to die. Things were starting to get dark and I assume I was losing consciousness. They quickly ripped the mask off my face and pulled me to my feet. You could tell the dentist was really freaked out but they kept telling me everything was alright. I don't exactly know what would have happened if they didn't catch that...

'Kids' do it all the time. That's what 'whippits' are. It's the gas in a can of whipped cream. It gets you high for a second. It's stupid and abuse of inhalants like that (especially if you get a hold of 'pure' nitrous oxide) can cause brain damage or kill you. It's usually the lack of oxygen that will make you unconscious and then you die.

It's mainly only dangerous if not administered by a licensed dentist in a dental office. Laughing gas, or more formally nitrous oxide, puts the patient to sleep but used for recreation for a cheap, quick high (known as inhalants or 'huffing') is extremely dangerous to the nervous system and other tissues and organs in the body. It's also physically addictive. A friend has a traumatic brain injury (tbi) and other permanent damage including bone marrow (fatty inner lining of the bones) damage with a lot of problems from when she was 12. She's now in her 30's. For more info on the dangers of inhalants: National Inhalant Prevention Coalition www.inhalants.org

The doctor used it to help me relax when I had my wisdom teeth out. It's not what they used to make me fall asleep, but it helped me relax. I don't remember dreaming, just wanting to laugh & giggle a lot before they put me out.

It takes about a minute, but im sure you can't buy it without a license. You occasionally have dreams, but not all the time, and when you wake up, you kinda feel drunk...lol...but too much of it is dangerous...
