i strongly suggest getting the fixed retainer, as i'm now currently getting braces put on again because i lost my retainer.
Even before i lost my retainer it was wearing down or just didn't hold teeth in tight enough.
I have my bottom teeth with a fixed retainer and they look great.
You'll forget you're even wearing one, and there actually quite comfortable to have in.
Even if the ortho told me i can take it out i would say no because i got so used to it and when i'm bored i flick it with my tongue instead of chewing on a pencil .

In some cases, a removable retainer will be all that's necessary. In other rare cases (especially when there is an extreme overbite or underbite), surgery may be necessary.but not in your case In most cases, however, retainer will be needed. or your netist will decide if u need one that takes out

If retainer is needed , your orthodontist will prescribe an appliance specific for your needs. The retainer may consist of bands, wires, and other fixed or removable corrective appliances.

whatever you get would be better than braces

Who knows what your situation is. I had a removable one for my top teeth and a metal band cemented in behind my bottom teeth. I needed the larger, removable one on top since those teeth had been the more crooked ones and needed the most 'work'. I was supposed to wear it 24/7 but I didn't because I felt like a loser. My bottom teeth weren't that bad so the wire they put on the back was enough to keep them in place.

Whatever you do, if you get a removable one, PLEASE wear it!! I didn't wear mine long enough and a lot of my teeth shifted back a little to where they were before. That was 17 years ago and you'd never know I ever had braces since my teeth are a bit crooked now.

normally you get one you can take out so you can eat without things getting stuck in it.
