I had my two bottom wisdom teeth removed 1.5 weeks ago. The left side slid right out but the right side was taken out in 3 pieces and took them over an hour. Thankfully I was on conscious sedation and don't remember much of it. Anyway, the right side developed dry socket and I had to go back last Monday to get paste packed into the tooth. How long is this paste supposed to stay in? I'm still in pain and my ear still slightly hurts.

They do not remove a dry socket paste. It stays, heals and dissolves. The idea is to close the hole.If they put something that needs to come out,the area will stay open and won't heal.If you have stitches, those need to come out,not the dry socket paste.

Dry Socket Paste

Most of my paste came out later that night/next morning but the pain ended so I didn't go back and complain. I assumed it was supposed to stay in a bit longer than that though. I had stitches but those fell out/dissolved on their own. The top stitches came loose a few days after the extraction, I assume that's why I had the dry socket. Mine did not hurt that badly though.

It's supposed to stay in for a few days - and then you go back to get it removed. They'll put a new one in until the pain goes away. You're still feeling pain because a dry socket is when the bone of your jaw is exposed to the air. As they pack it more and more it will start to feel better. Hang in there hun, I know it hurts a ton!

How have you learnt you've gotten dry sockets? IF it does not harm plenty then you definitely as a rule should not have them. I had them and while I went external (it was once wintry weather) and I might breathe it KILLED SO BAD. If it does not harm all that so much, you are as a rule k.
