I have chemical sensitivity,(I have even been hospitalized due to an allergic reaction to paint fumes) so MCS IS REAL ! basically I cannot walk into the standard dental office without reacting to the air freshners,or the carpet,or peoples perfumes,or the smell of the flouridated water,or toothpastes.I wanted to say some money since I had no insurance,so I went to a doctor giving a promotional deal 20 mins after sitting in the office,i was turning white, had a hard time breathing, got nauseated and sick to my stomach,so I had to leave with the secretary asking me if I was gonna be okay.I found a dentist who has a scent free policy and uses mercury free methods and other things, but he is very expensive 280.00 per filling because they are the white fillings,im paying out of pocket, what should I do????

Sounds like you have 2 choises: white fillings or no fillings. No fillings = rotten teeth. You are left with one option.

Silver amalgam is outdated material anyway, so it's not a huge loss that you can't tolerate it. My dentist doesn't use silver/mercury mix anymore on anyone.

Do you have any insurance? If yes - maybe your doctor can argue with them and say that silver amalgam was unnaceptible in this case, white feelings were necessary.

Many dentists nonetheless use amalgam(mercury) fillings. additionally, The NHS restricts dentisits from making use of alternative ingredients on posterior tooth. Holistic dentisits do no longer use merury.

If you have dental insurance, you should get at least some coverage for your fillings. Typically, the insurance company will down-grade the code and pay out as they would have on a similar amalgam (metal) filling.

If your allergies are as severe as you are saying, it will be difficult for you to go anywhere, let alone the dentist. If you have found an office that caters to sensitive patients, you are lucky. It's your health you are talking about here...what is your health worth to you?
