My son is 6 and he will be 7 in August. Most if not all of his friends in first grade have lost several teeth. He has not had one loose tooth yet, that I had known of. He went to his grandmothers and while chewing gum he lost the very last tooth on the bottom left. Isnt it unusual to loose that first? Also, I can see that the new tooth has already popped right through the gum some..do you think this tooth pushed the other one out? Please let me know what you think. My son does not have a dentist yet, but does take flouride at school and has never had a cavity.

I've been using a home remedy for tooth whitening, just swishing a bit of hydrogen peroxide (which has been working great!), but I'm wondering if the hydrogen peroxide is harmful for my teeth.

I have a dentist appointment today in about an hour and a half for a root canal. I've never had one before and I'm a bit worried. How much does it hurt? How long will it hurt? Will it hurt bad enough to miss class?

Well so i wake up wednesday morning and my tooth is hurting pretty bad and its kinda loose. Which its permenant of course so i knew something was wrong. When i was younger i was jumping on a trampoline and chipped the bottom left corner of my tooth off. I have been getting it fixed ever since. The filling has fell off several times so i guess its finally caught up to me. I gave it a day then went to my dentist and he said i had an abscessed tooth. I call the oral surgeon here and they scheduled me for an appt for today which is tuesday (6 days after it started hurting) But i had surgery 2 weeks ago on my knee so i can't drive myself, my father is out of town on buisness which is normal. So i had no way to get to it, my question is if i keep taking (cephalexin) will i be ok until my re-schedule? Its re-scheduled for next week on wednesday which is a week and a day from now. The pain and swelling are almost gone, just have a little pocket of puss type stuff at the top of my tooth. Thanks

I have been told that I have an infection at the top of my tooth (it has a big filling in it - inlay). They have given me Metronidazole tablets. I am now on my 3rd day of a 5 day course and the pain has subsided slightly but not much. How long do you think they will take to work?

Whenever I brush my teeth now, my gums start bleeding and it hurts a lot to just brush them normally. A lot of blood starts coming out and I have no idea how to cure it? It seems like the harder I brush, the worse it gets. How do I help get rid of that?

Every 4 or 5 days I get a light toothache.
It doesn't last long, maybe 15 minutes or less.

Do you think my tooth is damaged???

Back in October, I had a deep cavity in one of my bottom teeth and the dentist was not sure if we could get by without a root canal. She just filled it and that seemed to do the trick, but it was a very deep filling. Every once in a while it is sensitive, but no pain. Now 6 months later, I have a puss filled bump on the side of it but with no pain at all - not even sensitivity right now. I can eat, tapping the tooth doesn't hurt, and no temperature sensitivity. Have popped the abscess several times with a sterile pin and it has drained a few times, but fills right up again.
My question is, do I have any chance of escaping this without a root canal? I should probably go to the dentist right away, huh?

Just wondering because I can't get to a dentist until the 25th, and i have an abscess tooth. I am on penicillin right now, but there's a bitter taste in my mouth, and i know it's coming from my tooth. Will it hurt me if i swallow it?

I am very interested in dentistry... but I'm not sure if I want to do the whole dental school 'thing'. I don't want to be a hygienist or assistant, but would still like to be involved. I used to know a person who worked in a dental office and she was trained and certified to do fillings - I can't remember what her certification was called. Can you do this at any dental school? Is it worth it?

I have to undergo some fairly major dental work in the next 2 weeks and I am so concerned about pain relief. I'm an ex-narcotic addict. Are there any medications that my Dentist can prescribe that would help me if I absolutely have to have something stronger than Tylenol or ibuprofen? This is just a big concern for me. I was honest with her and told her of my past problems with Vicodin. She was appreciative that I told her. I know we should trust our healthcare professionals and I do, but I am not sure that she has encountered this situation before. She didn't act like she had.

What would it cost to get a tooth filled? Would you have to get and pay for X-rays too?
