You're using mouthwash to clean it, aren't you?

Mouthwash, even diluted, will do that if you're using it too much. It's an out-dated aftercare method anyway. Try using a sea salt rinse (1/8 tsp sea salt to 8 oz warm water) rinse your mouth 3-4 times daily for about 5-10 mins at a time with the solution. Don't use mouthwash for about 2 weeks (or if you have to, keep it to once a day, diluted - keep up with your oral hygine routine just leave out the mouthwash) the whiteness should clear up in a week or so.

A tongue piercing usually takes 4-6 weeks to fully heal. Aftercare for tongue piercings is more complicated than most other piercings. Piercing will come into contact with anything that enters the mouth, including food and smoke. For these reasons, it is usually suggested not to engage in oral sex, not to smoke, and to remember rinsing your mouth thoroughly with an antiseptic mouthwash . It should be either an alcohol-free mouthwash or diluted regular mouthwash, as the alcohol will irritate the piercing and slow healing. It is especially important not to play with the piercing during the healing period, because that will severely inhibit the proper healing

P.S. Why couldn't you just get a tattoo instead?Far too many people have recurring infections and ugly scarring from piercing.

It might be an adult form of thrush. The other name for it is an oral yeast infection( not the same as the other kind). Don't freak out. The culprit could be the fact that you have been depleting your mouth's good bacteria. I almost made this mistake when i got mine pierced. If you are using Listerine way too much, this could happen. If you are, try not using it as much and it should clear up. Let me know if thats what the prob could be. Good luck?
