If you're already on antibiotics, you should be okay. Keep taking them. The pain is caused by the infection, and you're treating the infection.
By next week, this should be cleared up enough for the dentist to work on it withouht being concerned about giving your blood poisoning, because of an out-of-hand infection.
Rinse out your mouth with Listerine every hour, too, to keep the external bacteria at bay (and the pain).
I've had about 5 dental abcesses, and they are terrible. Keep taking the antibiotics, and see the endodontist next week.

There is a chance this is not a gum abscess it may be an abscess at the root of a nearby tooth. If its a true gum abscess then you may have food lodged between gum and tooth that may have to be removed. It is very important ( more so when pregnant) to get this taken care of. The infection can effect the health of your child. You may be able to get an extraction of the tooth covered under medical insurance. In many areas there are free or low cost dental clinics you may go to as well. I wish you luck and these do not clear up on their own. The pain may go away if the abscess is able to drain but the infection and health risk is still there.

Simply put, an abcess is infection. Usually the 1st sign is swelling. The dentist will not remove or even repair the tooth until the abcess is gone, so the first step is to call your dentist and get an antibiotic. Once the swelling is gone, he/she can then either remove the tooth, or repair depending upon whether the tooth had been filled previously, contains a crown or inlay/onlay, or if the abcess originated at the root. Either way, a trip to the dentist is inevitable. Dont use your inability to drive as an excuse. A tooth/root/nerve infection rapidly enters the bloodstream, and if left untreated, can be lethal. Call a cab, jitney, access, take a bus, whatever. But again, the dentist will not see you until the infection is gone anyway, so unless you are still experiencing swelling, pain, temp, keep taking the antibiotic and keep your appt.! You may want to talk to your dentist about getting that previously filled tooth repl with a crown, inlay or onlay. Good luck.

This happened to me once, only I had to postpone simply because I didn't have the money at the time (which is sad considering how cheap it is). I went for a couple of months, at which point the infection was so bad I just said f*ck it and had the tooth pulled. Replaced it with a bridge. I didn't have antibiotics the whole time, though, just for a week or two. If you keep taking yours, I think you should be okay if you don't wait as long as I did.

CALL A CAB!!
You need to get to the dentist now, do not put it off. Call everyone you know until you locate someone that will take you. If you have a pocket of gunk, it's not okay. You have to keep that appointment. Find a ride. Most cab companies take credit cards and ATMs or they could take you to the bank to get cash before you go to the dentist. You need to go to this appointment, I would not delay.
I have had so much oral surgery and I know you have to take care of things asap. I've worn braces, had 4 wisdom teeth removed, other surgeries on my teeth. Take care of it today and don't rely on the antibiotics to fix it until next week. You might run out of antibiotics and have a worse problem on your hands.
Best of luck to you!

In my experience, they won't work on a tooth until the infection is gone anyway. Maybe that will give it time to heal some before your next appt.

That pocket needs to be drained. That (and the antibiotics) are causing your dizziness. This can not wait if it is getting worse. Go see your house physician if you can not get to your dentist. Take your prescription (the box) with you.
