THERE IS A REASON WHY THE TISSUES IN SIDE THE MOUTH RE[AIR SO QUICKLY. IT'S BECAUSE THE CHEEKS ARE OFTEN DAMAGED DURING CHEWING.

Do you take any meds? My daughter does the same thing but her's is a side effect (initially, now a habit).
The only thing that seems to help her is to chew sugarless gum or suck on hard candy (again sugarless is best).
Try to be aware when you are doing it, do you do it more when you are under a lot of stress, or tired, nervous, etc...
It's easier to stop doing something if you can replace it with something else...
Good Luck!

Oh, my god... I thought I was the only one!! When I was little I used to wonder if it made me a cannibal... Maybe that's why I became a vegetarian.
I don't think it affects the cheeks, really. It heals quickly and even if it sometimes stings a bit, it's not so bad. I just worry about wearing my front teeth down.
But you are right... I can't stop!! It's madness!!
