Dental - January 2007

I am getting 2 wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow... and I'm scared to death! I've already had braces... and I know how much that hurt when I first got them, or got them tightened. So... my question is, which one hurts more?

I've heard people say both.. I guess that problem teeth keeps them in business, but today my dentist seemed mad at me for not flossing enough.. so I think he was genuinely concerned.

On Tuesday I went in to the dentist because the left side of my mouth was very swollen and painful. They gave me antibiotics and said I needed to get my wisdom teeth pulled. They made the appointment for tomorrow(Friday)... now will they be able to take out my wisdom teeth if my infection isn't fully gone? I've been taking the antibiotics for only 3 days now, and the swelling has gone down, but it's definitely not gone.

Basically, its two weeks bfore i get braces. im only getting them on my front six teeth. i went to the dentist yesterday and a nurse said she had to put "seperators" in, basically these ruber bands around the second last molar tooth on both sides of my mouth. Its a day later, and all of my molars hurt like hell when i try and use them. i cant chew or bite with those teeth anymore. is this normal? should my teeth be hurting this much?

In addition to daily good care ie brushing, flossing and of course a dental cleaning what rinses are good? Hydrogen peroxide, listerine, ???. ?

Has anyone had a problem in their life's where one side of your face is uneven? For example, my right side of my face most likely in the jaw area looks uneven from my left side. It looks bigger.
What could it be? By pressing that area with my fingers i feel more cartilage, tendons or nerves than on my left side, and perhaps they are misplaced.
I just had my wisdoms removed and it went well.
Perhaps i need braces?
or a mouth guard to fix my jaw?
Can anyone help?

I have an appt for a root canal today - but I have a cold, runny nose, sore throat. What are the chances they will turn me away?
I have waited 4 months for this appointment....should I "fake well" and not tell them about my sore throat? I really just want to get this thing taken care of.

His baby tooth is still there but loose. The new tooth seems to be growing above this tooth but upwards out the front of his gum.

I mean i was prescribed antibiotics aswell, but was told the infection will come back and have to be refered to Hospital, but is there any other way to solve this and how come i got a abcess where there is a crown and no tooth, so tooth abstraction is out of the question then? and also ive been told if i want to get a bridge i will have to go private BUT i dnt work and get income and have had bridge before so are they just lazy and dont want to do this?

I was wondering about extraction complications asides from dry socket?? I had a tooth extracted on Monday. It was somewhat difficult and required multiple shots of numbing medication and the tooth being sawed in half.

Three days later, I still have an egg shaped swollen area on my jawbone. It is "hard" and has been red/warm the past two days. I am going back to the oral surgeon this afternoon... but was hoping for some possibilities before then???

Hello, I noticed a small hole in one of my molars on the way to the dentist about a year ago, I told the dentist about it before I got in the chair. He said "yup, all fine" and the chair went up and I confirmed with him after, and he said that I didn't have any holes! He looked at me as if i was being stupid by questioning his judgement so I went away!

I then went back 6 months later for my checkup and he said that I needed a filling... and it doesn't take a genius to realise which tooth it was that he was talking about! So a few weeks later I had the filling and I looked at it at night and I could see on the top of my tooth that there was still what appears to be a hole.

Is there an acceptable degree of decay that is "OK" and doesn't need filling? Doesn't decay continue to grow unless it is removed regardless of size.. no?

I have a few holes that are literally less than quarter of an inch wide... should these microscopic ones be filled to prevent them getting worse?

I've brushed regularly, used mouthwash and I can't seem to get rid of the taste. I've smoked for years, but the taste just started occuring a few weeks ago. It tastes slighty 'metal-like'.

Because...I saw some friends that have braces and when they close thir mouth it looks horrible.I'm the most gorgeous girl from yr 9 and I want to keep it like that but I'm afraid that if I put Braces on boys might not like me anymore.By the way, how can u french kiss if u have braces pls help me...

I'm new to the world of dentures [uppers AND lowers]. Bottoms are pretty tight, but tops are a bit loose. I'd like to know what others in my position reccomend as a denture adhesive.

I always brush thoroughly at night, and floss too. So, why then do I have to brush again 8 hours later? What happens through the night that warrants another brushing? I know, the nasty breath, but why not just a quick swish with mouthwash?

I guess what I'm asking is, when is the best time to brush the second time in your day?

We are worried that her mouth will look unbalanced and asymmetrical. He says the only other option is to pull as many as four teeth. I've never heard of having one front incisor pulled. Is this really a common thing? Will the other teeth move together so her mouth looks normal? What is "Bolton Analysis"?

My dentist and I no longer get along because he doesn't listen to my wishes or respect my financial situation. I can't find any good dentist close to where I live who is covered by my dental plan. I'm thinking of switching to a dentist closest to where I live who is not covered by my dental plan that I got through my job. I'm thinking of paying full price by cash, credit, or check. Which of the three is the best one or does it matter?
