I work in broadcasting, and nothing can mess you up more than a canker sore when you talk for a living! I've always kept a tube of Zilactin handy. It hurts a bit going on, but it sure works great!

I used to have cankers lots but now take Llysine daily and no more cankers. Try it. You can by Llysine over the counter.

There is a mouthwash called Peroxyll that helps them to start healing faster. You can find it among the toothpaste aisle in stores such as Wal-mart. Also, I think Orabase does pretty well on decreasing the pain since it is a base it doesn't burn like a gel or liquid does.

You can also use the vitamin L-Lysine. It helps prevent them.

Abreva is good,a bit pricy but it works, my mom used to tell me to use camphphoniq liquid with a q-tip, scrubb it till it bleeds to get the whit stuff off it will go away in a couple of days( the campho will numb it too)

i use this stuff called "kanka." it's a blistex product, so you should be able to find it. it stings like heck when you first apply it, but it numbs the canker for a couple of hours.
