I'd especially appreciate answers from anyone working in dental field. What does the orthodontist do to the patient wanting invisalign braces? How long does it take to get them or to get fit? And do they hurt? I'm scared, thanks!

Why my teeth are bad is a long story. But I cannot smile anymore.(haven't been able to for years) alot of cavitys,discolored,etc. Does anyone have any ideas about financial help for me? Like I said, Have some ins. but it will still cost me $1000's. I only make enough $ to support myself. Anything would be appreciated

I discovered I had a big box of crest white strips in my basement. I bought them 2-2 1/2 yrs. ago w/out evening realizing I had them!!
I've been using them only for about 3 days now but haven't noticed a difference, not like I did back then when I used the strips. I don't recall how many I used back then to get my desired results. I was wondering if they had a shelf life and this is why my teeth aren't getting whiter, or maybe it's just that I've not used that many yet. (for about 3 days twice day I've used them).
My teeth need whitening, but really aren't "that bad", lol !!
Do you think it's because i should just buy new strips? or just keep using them all up? I thought I recalled seeing a difference just after the 1st or 2nd try last time, of course they were brand new back then. They are like 56 bucks I think!

i need a root canal have no insurance what can i do to get this procedure done without burning a hole in my pocket. DOnt want the carecredit thing. How about ameriplan or dentalplans do these work the discounted plans. I dont want insurance companies with waiting periods.

I had my #15 tooth pulled yesterday. It was so rotted that my dentist sent me to an oral surgeon. So I woke up this am in no pain! But it started bleeding really badly, and I called the surgeon and told him about a huge blood clot hanging from the site.

So I went into the office, and he pulled out the clot. It stopped bleeding, but there is a little bit of blood and it tastes funny. I still have the gauze on the site(a different piece of course), but I am scared to take the gauze off for fear of it will start bleeding again. Any words of advice/wisdom?

I'm hoping for reassurance that I haven't wrecked my teeth for good...

I went regularly when I was a kid (up to age 17). Then that was it until I was 25 when I needed a wisdom tooth taken out. The dentist said I didn't need any other work doing.

Now I'm 34 and I can feel a hole. It's a tooth which already has a filling so I don't know whether I've lost part of that filling or whether it's a new cavity that's developed.

Common sense tells me that since all my teeth are made of the same stuff and have had the same experiences then if one has a hole the others won't be far behind. This is making me not want to go... stupid I know... I can't help it!

So, my question, to any dentists or dental nurses. In your experience, when people my age show up having left it for ten years, do they typically need loads of work doing as well as the specific problem they came in with? What are my chances of getting away with having left it so long?

Also, what should I expect? What's changed?

I have yellowish teeth. Can I use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to whiten my teeth? If not then what are the other natural things I can use to whiten my teeth within 2/3 days? I brush my teeth twice daily but bad smell persists,what can I do to get rid of bad smell instantly? Please help.

I am 33 and think it is time to break down and get this done. I haven't yet because I haven't had any pain or other symptoms, nor the money. But now the one in bottom back is starting to throb and swell my gums. I have 2 competely in and one that has not come through at all... I would like to know from anyone who is older and had impacted teeth, how this went for you. Did you have local, general or total sedation and how was it? How was it after for pain? Did you have more problems than non-impacted patient? I have never had surgery or any extended time in the hospital, so any procedure is new to me. I think there has been a tremendous amount of good info in response to this, but I would like to hear from some others who aren't so young w/ "fresh, easy" teeth. Thanks!!

I suffer from a medical condition (my entire life) that causes my body not to be able to produce NEAR enough enamal for my teeth. I am also unabel to take novicaine, as I am severely allergic. I HAVE to be put under all the time. The result is tooth breakage and spending over $32,000 dollars over my 35 years to have my teeth fixed. I cannot afford any more "band-aid" fixes. I want to get all my teeth pulled and get false ones. I have spoken to dentists about this, but they all say that it cannot be done--legal reasons. Now why is it that if I wanted to have a sex change, I could do that, but my teeth pulled? No way!! I think dentistry is a racket. All about money. Does anyone know how I go about finding a dentist who will do this?

One tooth is chipped and can't get the veneer. I would like for them to be identical since they are side by side, but the idea of having my teeth shaved down to little stubs scares me. I also worry that the crowns will fall off and my filed teeth would show. My options are two crowns or one crown and one veneer. I trust my dentist who says either one will look nice but I'm still very anxious. My appointment is this weekend.
