If your dentist gave you the antibiotics for this infection, you may need to be switched to a different one. Especially if you've been on them for two days and have since developed the swelling. Usually by the second day your blood levels are up enough to be fighting the infection and you should feel better, they shouldn't be making you feel worse. Then you have a problem that needs to be treated immediately. Sometimes one medication works better than the other.
If your taking some that you had just laying around, then you need to stop and go to the dentist so he can determine what type of infection you have and what medication you need to be taking. Hope I've been of some help. Good luck!

yes there is an infection in your boby and the antibiotics sounds like it taking effect if its not better by 12-24 hours go to a dentist and get it fixed they will drain the absessed tooth the only pain u will feel is the localised anestetic injection the rest will be a breeze until anestetic wears off that is but you will be well and true'ly home recovering when that happens teeth are pretty big they go down right down to the bottom of your jaw bone about 1.5cm start to finish

The "swelling" is actually a gas pocket in your jaw. Your infection is obviously not being controlled/killed by the antibiotic the dentist gave you. The proper action at this time is to go back to your dentist, have her/him drill into the infected tooth and clean out the decay. When it reaches the abscess stage, the tooth's nerve has decayed and must be sterilized properly (called a root canal). As mentioned earlier, DO NOT DELAY. This infection is most painful at its worst, and can easily spread to other places in your body (like your heart). Go see your dentist immediately.

It means the antibiotics that you are taking are not strong enough to do the job. Go back to your doctor or dentist and tell him. You see antibiotics are supposed to reduce the swelling not increase it.

Its a pretty well-known symptom. You definitely gotta get it checked out by a dentist! It's a very serious symptom, and it could indicate that the infection is spreading, and that could lead to even more problems. My dad had it once, and the dentist said that the bacteria in the puss from the tooth can migrate, as well as the bacteria. i really urge you to get it checked out ASAP

Depends on how long you've been taking the antibiotics and whether or not they're working.
