Elastics or rubber bands attach to hooks on brackets and are worn between the upper and lower teeth in various ways. They apply pressure to move the upper teeth against the lower teeth to achieve a perfect fit of individual teeth.
Call the office to make sure you did it right. :)

If you forgot and can't remember by looking at your bands, then you need to call the dentist office and ask to be shown again. Following the advice of others could land you in serious trouble by placing them on wrong and creating a mess before your next appointment. Also it could add a month or so onto your treatment if you do attach them wrong. It's better to be safe about it than regret it by doing it wrong. You are not the first patient to forget, it happens a lot! Call and let them know, they won't even need to make an appointment for you, one of the assistants can show you just from looking at your chart and in your mouth. Good luck!

In my opinion, the best answer was provided by the user named 'Swamy' , who was correct to suggest that the rubber band will remain unaffected if it it kept dry. I tried this on one of my old Tupperware bowls it was missing a lid. I secured a paper towel over it with a rubber band, and steamed my vegetables perfectly. In approximately 4.5 minutes, there was no melting or funny smell from the rubber band.

You better ask which teeth and configuration he wants. You may have more hooks for future elastics. They should have given you a diagram on the back of the elastic bag. If you do a wrong configuration you will make it worse. They should also give you a plastic hook that will making putting the elastics on easier. You may have initial pain, don't stop wearing them, it will get better in a few days.

I don't think anyone hear can tell you unless it's your orthodontist. You need the correct configuration that your orthodontist told you. There are many ways to wear them, and if you wear them incorrectly for month until you see him again, then it will change your teeth. For example, you'd wear them on your lower incisors to your upper first molars to correct an underbite and/or midline. But there are many other ways to ear them like in triangles, or from your upper incisors to your lower first molars. You should call your orthodontist and they can look up your chart and try to explain it to you.
