Haha sort of, i am 21 too and i just got braces. I lost a little bit of weight because I couldnt eat the normal foods I was used to eating. Theres a big of discomfort with your spacers and braces and it keeps you from eating hard or chewy foods in the begining. Once your teeth feel back to normal your eating will be normal too. Dont worry you will be fine.

No. It will take a couple weeks to adjust to the braces and eating. Make sure you have plenty of yogurt and ice cream. You'll gradually adjust to chewing with the braces and will be able to eat a lot of different things. Just cut food into little bites and eat as much as you want! There's no need to be scared and nervous. I was an adult with braces and I made it through with no problems. I love my straight teeth! Good luck!

no, i am 25 and I have had my braces since October and I did not loose weight. I just had to change what I ate for the first week or so, but now i eat the same foods that i ate before i got the braces, it just takes longer to eat! But i will warn you, your teeth will be sore and the inside of you lip will be rubbed raw by the braces!! but give a week or two, you will be fine!!!

The first couple of days you will probably be very sore. For me I was in lots of pain but it will go away and you will get used to the braces. I dont think that you will lose a noticeable amount of weight this way, and dont be scared you will have beautiful teeth before you know it just be sure to take extra care when it comes to brushing. Good luck, and dont worry the sorness does go away after a couple days.

I had braces and had less trouble than most people.
You'll be in pain the first week, so maybe you'll loose your appetite for awhile.
Afterwards, your teeth will adjust themselves and they won't hurt.
You can eat as normal.
But your teeth a little will hurt every time you visit your dentist for re-tightening.
I doubt you'll loose too much weight.

You might not be able to chew very well for a few days. But you can have milkshakes! That's what I did!
(I think that I only lost 3 or 4 pounds)
