If a calorie is a unit of measurement of energy (i.e., the amount of energy in a food is measured in calories, the mass of my body is measured in kilograms), then how is a low calorie "food" high in energy?

What is up with this? I know teens have pain in their lives -- we did too but I didn't know ANYONE (and I knew a lot of people) in school but NO ONE was into cutting themselves.....how and why did this start??? Teenagers have had pain in their lives (regardless of their home life) since the day the world began....it just doesn't make sense. I understand they say it "releases pain" -- how does it release pain? Is it an attention getter or what??? I raised to boys and they went through a LOT too and they never resorted to cutting themselves -- ever. I don't understand. Can anyone help me understand? If you cut yourself, please explain why and what is so horrible in your life that you would do this???

When I was younger, at High School etc, I was constantly bullied for being the 'fat kid'. It was due to me having a deficiency in growth hormone. After hormonal injections til I was 18, I was still a little chubby but a bit taller. Now, at 23, I weigh about 56-57 kilos and I'm maybe, 5'7" - perhaps a little bit taller. But I've grown obsessed with my weight. I weigh myself every morning to see if there's been any fluctuation and if I go over 9 stones, I'll eat less until I'm under again. I have pretty skinny arms and legs, and a little bit of pudge left on my tummy; these are all things I monitor remembering how I got bullied before. And when I look around, there are always these naturally perfectly-shaped lads, and I end up weighing myself again.

My GP says weighing myself so constantly is just my obsessive-compulsive thing.. Im not so sure. Does anyone have any advice to give? Thanks in advance.

I am on a swim team and swim 5 days a week for about 2 hours. I have weak arms, abs, and need to build my leg muscles. I am 5 feet 8 inches, 15 years old and weigh 110 pounds. Would it be beneficial for me to jog / run in the morning before school for about 25 minutes to build muscles and better help me in swimming?

I've been sick all week, and I have plans this weekend. I have: chest congestion, sinus congestion, a runny nose, muscle aches, headache, and a little fever and so on. I've been taking ecchinacea with goldenseal, drinking lots and lots of tea and organic oj, sleeping, taking hot showers, and so on. Although I'm not big one for taking drugs, I've also taken a bit of Mucinex.

I just want to get rid of this and on with my life. What should I do?

Her attorney said she shouldn't. However I'm thinking she could get something paying under the table, part time. She's on medication and is doing fairly well mentallty. I think a part time job would not only,of course help financially, but mentally.Something not too demanding such as caring for pets or cleaning houses.Have any of you been in a simular situation?

About 9 months ago my sister was in an accident.....long story short, she is wheelchair bound. She is very independant, she has a very hard time asking for help. She can no longer get into her bathtub or on to the shower seat by herself, she has a nurse to help her twice a week, but she is kind of obsesive.......last week she told me she uses Clorox Wipes on herself between showers! Now I know this can't be good, but I'm not sure what would be better. Please help me, help her!

So I'm supposed to take Prednisone for 30 days for rheumatoid arthritis. I have been taking it for about eight or nine days now. I was supposed to get my period on Tuesday, and I haven't gotten it yet. And I'm NEVER late. Can prednisone cause you to miss your period or delay it for a while? It's possible that I'm pregnant but it's not very likely at all. Should I take a test or should I just wait and see what happens?

ok when were on our way to school we take the school bus and when he gets on he counts 3 rows then sits and if he doesn't he feels weird until he does it again the next day. also feels things aren't right and wants to do it over and over even though it is good. also rinses out a cup 3 times because he's afraid of choking on soap, and he had an eraser and saw it was uneven and kept erasing to make it even and got frustrated when it didn't get even. is this serious? should he see a doctor?

I've been working as a graphic designer these past 3 years... and have been VERY inactive.

Well I've got to the point where I'm so out of shape (weak not fat) it's actually uncomfortable to exercise. In fact it's almost painful. I can feel and hear my joints cracking, and my shoulder keeps poping in and out.

So I mean, what do I do now? Even just regular push ups are difficult.
