I've been sick all week, and I have plans this weekend. I have: chest congestion, sinus congestion, a runny nose, muscle aches, headache, and a little fever and so on. I've been taking ecchinacea with goldenseal, drinking lots and lots of tea and organic oj, sleeping, taking hot showers, and so on. Although I'm not big one for taking drugs, I've also taken a bit of Mucinex.

I just want to get rid of this and on with my life. What should I do?

I prefer natural remedies. Any of those?

I've written this to several people. Guess everyone is getting the flu/cold lately, : / Hope you get better and please try this when you have the chance.

I have killed off many a cold with grapefruit seed extract. It works wonders and on average -- taking four times a day -- got rid of my cold in two to three days. It helps with numberous other conditions, and has been proven for over 30 yr. to be safe and effective. You can find this product at your local health food store.

Well you probably won't go for this suggestion,... because it sounds like you are looking for something you can do at home on your own,... but just in case you are open to it,.. here's my suggestion.

Go to a good acupuncturist who also works with Chinese Herbology. Chinese medicine from a skilled professional should clear up your problem within about 24 to 36 hours.

I have found Zicam nasal swabs to be very effective in both lessening the severity of symptoms and shortening the duration of colds. I have also found that used once daily, I haven't had a cold in five years.

My top 3 cold musts are:
Take vitamins...They are food for the immune system.
Drink fluids....... Colds produce toxins that need flushing.
Get rest............ Don't put any more stress on your system.

Beyond that, some people (like me) catch colds in the fall
because they have allergies and thier immune system
is on overdrive fighting things that are not bad.
If that is true for you, you need to take allergy meds.
to de-sensitize your system and get better.
I have used benidril for this...to also sleep better.

Viral illness comprise a vast majority of respiratory illnesses. They generally last up to 7-10 days and run their course. The treatment for viral illnesses is mainly increased fluid uptake and symptomatic treatment with medications like mucinex, sudafed, and etc. depending on your symptoms.

There are currently no clinical trials to support herbal supplements like echinacea, goldenseal, and organic foods with respect to fighting colds, although you will hear people swear by them. They may work, they may not depending on who you ask.

Your symptoms sound like you have the flu (which is unusual this time of year, it's too early) since you complain of muscle aches. My suggestion would be to keep your fluid intake high and take OTC products for your symptoms. Eventually your illness will run its course.

I hope this helps
