I've read and heard that it's dangerous to cook with olive oil on medium-high heat. Is this true?
I've read also that it releases toxic radicals, which is why it's smells funky when it's heated in a pan like that.
I'm planning to make a hummus later, which requires me to heat up olive oil.

Is this stuff true about olive oil, though? Please help. Thanks!

I've currently started making my own pizza. i've been eating more healthily for the last 5 weeks and lost a stone and 2 pounds. I just want to know if my home made pizza is going to damage my waist lol:

I use a wholemeal pitta bread for the base.
sauce made from blended tomatoes with garlic and herbs (could i use normal tomato puree if money gets tight?)
low fat mozzerella cheese. (light sprinkle)
peppers, mushrooms, low fat ham,
various toppings, all vegetable based.

I am looking to make chili tonight and would like to try something different. I don't like it with all the extra tomato pieces and peppers and all that...just a simple meat and bean recipe with a few spices in it would be great. any ideas?

I am making chicken soup in my crock pot. There is 1/4c. of red wine in the recipe. The soup will be cooked on high for 3-4 hours. Will most of the wine "cook out" of the soup, leaving only the flavor? The reason is asking is I want to make sure it would be safe to feed to my 15 month old.

I can pop to the shop if needed but would rather use up what i have in the fridge.

Risotto rice
Chicken breast
Onion
Garlic
Red/Yellow/Green Peppers
White wine
Mushrooms
Fresh vegetable stock.
Fresh Dill
Eggs
Olive Oil
Plus have a multitude of spices.

Any ideas welcome, thanks.

Also, what do i do with the risotto rice? do i put it in the pan raw or par boil it first?

We have two apple trees and this year we got like 4000 apples - we are sick of pies and crumbles, and apple meringue is getting stale. We also juice them but this takes ages and we don't normally have the time for that.

why do we cry when chopping an onion ?
my eyes are extra sensitive to it and first cut makes tears come out like crazy.
I barely cook with onion but i like the flavour it brings to some food. Sometimes i get hubby to do it for me cause it get so bad i cant even open my eyes! just want to know why it happens? and if anyone has any tips on how to stop the tears?
I feel like a freak, cause it doesnt affect my hubby at all, and it didnt do much to my mum, but to me its really bad.
any tips will be greatly appriciated.
