I just bought one off e-bay and was really excited, but I'm finding it takes FOREVER to cook anything. Can anyone tell me if this is normal for all electric steamers of if I got a dodgy one? Personal experience would be good please. I tried to cook some pieces of apple and pear for my baby today (very small pieces and they weren't cooked after being in for an hour.

Please tell me where I can find AMERICAN MADE silverware, dishes, pots & pans, and cooking utensils here in the U.S.
Alot of companies are based here, but their product is REALLY made in China, or some other low wage country, so really read the label please!

and it had one of those little pop up timers, well I stupidly trusted it when it said the chicken was done. I pulled it out and got all my sides done. Went to slice it and low and behold, it is NOT done. The family is ready to eat, what can I do? Do you think I could finish it in the microwave? Not my favorite idea but I need it to finish up quickly. Do you have any ideas or will the microwave work?
