I'm looking for a recipe for sweet potato pound cake. I tried it @ a cookout recently, but never found out who made it so I could get the recipe. Ithad a hard caramel sauce on the top and was out of this world delicious!

I know that this might be pretty obvious to some of you, but i've never done it before, and i thought that it might be a pretty neat idea to try sometime with dinner. Thanks.

Running it under cold water first
keeing the root on
wearing any part of the oinion on my head
Using a food processor (in fact, this makes it worse!)

Short of putting on my snorkel or swim goggles, has anyone had any real luck with any REAL solutions?

ok so i grill all the time, and have slowly mastered pork, beef, fish, and shrimp...but now i want to cook. I plan on making dumplings as my first attempt to real cooking( i guess dumplings count) due to their simpleness.....so what should i put in my Gyoza dumpling? i dont want cabbage in it and also how long does the meat inside need to cook? i know you fry them till they are brown( the dumpling) but does it really cook the meat? And lastly, i need one on one help in cooking, but dont have anywhere to go and my father isnt much of a chef, he is the one who taught me to grill so well...thanks for the advice

P.S I am 15 years old so dont suggest cooking schools..thanks!

I am bored, bored, bored, with pork chops/rice/corn for dinner. Since I really have no kitchen skills beyond the most simple, does anyone have a really great chicken recipe? Failing that, a really great marinade for steak?

Do not leave recipies, honestly...

Anyways tonight I am making pear spiced porkchops with mashed sweet potatoes and pilaff with mushrooms as the sides

does this seem like enough? The pear makes a glaze effect on the chops with a few spices (it's good). Also should this be enough?

Here's a recipe I just found for a yogurt smoothie. It says any soft fruit can be used in place of the banana. All I have on hand is some canteloupe and a few apples. I know the apples won't work in this recipe cuz they're too hard, but has anyone ever used canteloupe in a smoothie? Would canteloupe be good in this recipe? Here's the recipe:
There are almost unlimited possibilities for maple smoothies. The author has used bananas here, but soft berries in season are also terrific; any soft fruit will work. Let your imagination guide you, bearing in mind the proportions of yogurt to maple and fruit.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup plain yogurt
½ cup milk
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
1 ripe banana, peeled
Pinch of cinnamon
Several ice cubes, crushed

1. Combine the yogurt, milk, maple syrup, banana, and cinnamon in a blender.

2. Add the crushed ice and process until smooth. It's fine of shards of ice remain after the blending. Serve at once.
I found this recipe at http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/food/448
