French bread sliced down wards but not all the way through
Mix some butter, plenty of garlic, herbs and salt and pepper. Spread into the splits, and spred the rest of the butter mixture all over the top surface of the bread.
Wrap in foil. Cook for 20 minutes and then unwrap for a few minutes to crisp up.

Ingredients
1 medium sized loaf or baguette
1 bulb of smoked or ordinary garlic
Salt
Olive oil
Melted Butter
Method
1. Preheat the oven to its highest temperature. Tear a piece of tin foil.
2. Crush the bulb of garlic and scatter it over the centre of the foil including skins. Season with salt, drizzle with oil and butter and lay the bread on top. Fold the foil around the bread to form a parcel.
3. Place in the oven for 5-10 min.

What I do is first I take whatever bread I am using slice it, and toast it in the oven until is is crisp. Then take cloves of garlic and rub it on the toasted bread. The garlic just melts into the bread because it is still warm. And finally I spread butter over it and toast it again just until the butter is melted. It is sooo good, I promise you!!

I but a fresh loaf of Italian bread from the bakery section of my supermarket. I cut it in half lengthwise. Then I soften a stick of butter for a few seconds in the microwave and stir in 3-4 cloves of finely chopped fresh garlic, and a pinch of salt. I spread half of that mixture on each side of the bread, wrap it in foil, and put it in a hot oven for 15 minutes.
If you want extra crispy crust, you could unwrap it and place it back in the oven for 2 more minutes.

first roast a few cloves of garlic (or more depending on how much you love garlic), when they have cooled mash them into your butter with a bit of fresh grated parmasan cheese.
Use a french loaf, (bigger than a baguette and crusty), you can slice it either lengthwise and butter both sides in the middle , or make a series of slices top to bottom, but be sure not to cut all the way through. then liberally butter both sides of each slice. Wrap the loaf in tinfoil and bake at about 200 degrees for 10 - 15 mins. then remove the foil and bake for another 5.. but keep an eye on it.. it can burn quickly.

By far the best one. Suites a picky Italian eater like my husband.
INGREDIENTS
1 (1 pound) loaf Italian bread
5 tablespoons butter, softened
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the broiler.
Cut the bread into slices 1 to 2 inches thick.
In a small bowl, mix butter, olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. Spread the mixture evenly on the bread slices.
On a medium baking sheet, arrange the slices evenly and broil 5 minutes, or until slightly brown. Check frequently so they do not burn.
Remove from broiler. Top with cheese and return to broiler 2 to 3 minutes, until cheese is slightly brown and melted. Serve at once

Sometimes I just get a french stick, slice it and spread with garlic butter and put in the oven. Other times I make my own garlic butter with fresh garlic, butter and parsely and spread it inside and on the outside of pitta bread and put it under the grill or in the oven
