I am making kung pao chicken and it needs corn starch to thicken the sauce. I have tried flour before and it worked OK but was a little pasty.

I love to have picnic's on the beach with wine, bagel slices, pate's, cheeses, pickled beets and pears. Sound strange? It works for me! It's hard to find a good pate' recipe though. I'm looking for tried and true, not just a website link. Thanks

Does anyone have any tips/recipes on cooking tofu? It doesn't have to be vegetarian, but I also don't mind at all if it is vegetarian. Just trying to get some extra protein because I don't like chicken. Thaaaanks! :)

I either can't find or I don't have anymore of the flour in my kitchen, but I do have some 4C bread crumbs and I wanted to know if I could fry my chicken with it instead. If so, please give any tips on how to do so, not that I don't know how to fry chicken, but it might be different with bread crumbs. Thanks to all who helpfully contribute.

Around Christmas there were some recipes w/ Rachel Ray on the back of the Big Wheat Thins boxes. I made one - it was a melon and prosciutto salsa for the top of the crackers and it was so good! I've been asked to make it for Easter but can't find the recipe.

Anyone???

Does anyone have an old family reciepe for cottage cheese kuchen that they would be willing to share? Please do not get one from the internet if you have not made it yourself. My husband loves cottage cheese kuchen which we can purchanse at the local german bakery but paying 10 dollars for something so small is outragious when I know I could make it at home for less. I have made peach kuchen but am unsure if I would have to some how season the cottage chese or what I would have to do so it tastes as good as what we get from our bakery. If you get your recipe from the internet pls list the source so that I can read the reviews ty

We're trying to cook more meals at home but most of the recipies are in ounces.
We're trying to make lunch for a party and it calls for 2 oz of tuna.
How can we measure this? We have various measuring cups.
I keep getting different answers so I'm not sure.
1 oz = ?
2 oz = ?

cheers.

Mom made a sponge looking dessert that was usually red or green, with or without a cover of ground vanilla wafers. The dessert was semi-sweet and sometimes even had large air holes that looked like a common sponge.

It cut nicely into squares and showed up on a lot of pot luck tables in the 50s. But, I have not seen anything like it for years.

It stood up like jello but much less dense. It was kept in refg. until served, but never melted down like jello. I think cream was involved but I would sure like some now. Any ideas or directions?

Thanks.
