We're trying to cook more meals at home but most of the recipies are in ounces.
We're trying to make lunch for a party and it calls for 2 oz of tuna.
How can we measure this? We have various measuring cups.
I keep getting different answers so I'm not sure.
1 oz = ?
2 oz = ?

cheers.

I don't have time to go by a scale, hence why I'm asking here.

2 oz has two meanings... it's either a volume measurement (as in cups) or a weight (as in 16 oz = 1lb).

Since you're talking about a meat, I'm assuming weight.

The rule of thumb is a 3 oz serving of meat is about the size of a deck of playing cards... using that as a general reference.

1 oz = 1/3rd of a deck of playing cards
2 oz = 2/3rd of a deck of playing cards.

Also, you can look at the nutritional information, that is given in weight (usually in grams) and serving size (1/2 can, 2 tablespoons). The nutritional information will give you an approximate idea of how much to spoon out.

1 oz = 28.35 grams
2 oz = 56.7 grams

Get a scale you can buy them at walmart for as little as 10 dollars. Using a measuring cup is not accurate unless you purchase a container of whatever product you need in that exact weight {ie 2 ounce can of tuna, if they come that small}

If it's for a party you will need more than that anyway ! Do you mean canned tuna ? If so ,and your using it for sandwiches, just mix it with some mayo , and mustard and maybe a little relish and let them serve themselves or you can smear some on the bread yourself, it's not that hard ! Two oz. is probably about two tablespoons.

You need a kitchen scale to measure weights.

You can also eyeball it if your ingredients are in cans or boxes with their weight on them. For example, if you have a can of tuna that is 6 ounces and you only need 2 ounces, divide by three and use a third of the can. Or triple your recipe.
