I'm about to bake a bread, kind of flattish like a pizza crust, but even though it's relatively flat it still needs to rise a bit, so the recipe calls for yeast. I don't have any and can't get to the store - can I just substitute baking powder?

We have been caught in a cycle of eating almost the same meals weekly. Taco's, spagetti, feta chicken, and salmon. Usually a couple nights a week I'll try something different or rotate other good meals. We all love these meals, I don't need suggestions of what we could try. I want to hear what staple meals your family eats regularly.

Where can I buy an electronic scale that can measure in milligrams? I don't want to buy it online, I just want to buy it at a store locally. Could I buy it at a cooking store or would I have to go to an electronics store like Frys?

Last year I made my son's first birthday cake using rolled fondant. It looked great, but with fondant it is so sweet so everyone ended up triming the fondant part of the cake and throwing it away. This year I am concidering marzipan since it tastes better. However, I never used it before. Is there any difference between working with marzipan and fondant? is it as easy or more difficult? will it dry and crake after a couple of hours? can i find it ready made just like rolled fondant?? which dyes should i use to color it? thanks:)

When I bake it w/ the egg/milk mixture, some of the eggs came out scrambled. I did heat the milk before I poured it over the potatoes, but I also tempered the eggs so the scrambling wouldn't happen. How can I prevent this?

I have a dish I want to make, but I need about a half pound more meat. Is there anything that I can mix with the meat to bulk it up? I'm thinking perhaps beans (which would work with the recipe), but do I cook them, or mash them, or what? Are there any other foods that I can use?

Thanks for your answers!
