Years ago, in Chicago, I used to order a dense pumpkin pie from a small gourmet shop (not at all 'custardy' or Brulee-like); I've lost the information and the shop has since closed, but would like to recreate the recipe as close as possible to what I remember... the pie was 'thicker' than traditional custard pies, but not at all a cheesecake. It was baked in a spring-form pan, so the sides were tall... not angled sides as would be produced in a traditional pie dish. The crust was light and flaky (not a Graham or Ginger Snap crust). Can anyone help? I'm hoping to bake a 'test pie' before Thanksgiving. Thank you.

What on earth is a baked ziti, this doesnt sound good. Im having awful images of some strange animal roasting in the oven and a frito pie just sounds alien. I came across these odd foods while answering a question for someone wanting to know what dish to take to her sons school party. Thank you to all who answer.

I just got a set of stainless steele pans and food is sticking to them. I'm using Crisco but I'm concern with the amount of fat and cholesterol.

At first i thought ham but then i remembered ham is expensive. I would prefer something that doesnt cost too much and that can be made in a caserole dish and is easy to transport. I also have a crock pot so i could make something in there. I just don't have any ideas.

I'm making sesame chicken using "natural sesame seeds" (whatever that means... unprocessed? raw?). I think I recall the recipe saying to toast the seeds before using them in the recipe. How would I do this? Please specify types of oils if at all (sesame, peanut, soybean, canola, unsalted butter, etc.) and/or seasonings (five spice powder, ginger, salt, green onion, etc) if at all and/or type of frying pan (or whatever else). Also cooking time (minutes, hours?) and relative temperatures (high heat, medium heat on stove, 350C in oven, etc) would be very helpful. Should I NOT toast them and do something else to them? What? What do you think it the most authentic, tasty way to do this. Thank you.

My parents' anniversary is coming up and I'll be home that day to set up, so I need something like a very, very small dessert to make that is simple but has no sugar and is low in calories. I don't want to make something big, like a whole batch of cookies or a cake or anything, because we're not much of sweet-eaters. Just one individual...something. We are also vegetarian so please nothing with meat.
