My mom will be recovering from surgery this Thanksgiving, but I still want to cook for my father, brother, and boyfriend. Any suggestions to make it a wee bit easier? I will be depending on the internet to learn everything, making a turkey, stuffing, etc..

Guys, how do you make colored chocolate? I read that you can make food paint by mixing cocoa butter with powdered food color then mixing them in white chocolate. Is there a substitute for cocoa butter coz that's hard to find in our grocery store here in the philippines... will vegetable shortening do or is that going to ruin the taste of the chocolate? Any other way that I can make colored chocolate without having to buy the expensive oil-based food color sold online? Thanks!

I'm in the middle of baking something and the recipe calls for 1 & 1/3 ounces of whipped topping mix. All I know how to use are like teaspoons and measuring cups. The carton says it is 1 pint/473 ml. so how would I measure it? And would that measure be before or after it is whipped?
Also, is whipped topping mix the same thing as whipping cream? Please say yes. If it isn't, do you think it will still work?

I know you mix evaporated milk with a can of water but I've never used filled milk before and wonder if it's the same.
