I am a country girl and I grew up eating and making biscuits and gravy. This recipe is wonderful, and easy to make. It may take you some time to get it just right, but the key is to be sure you cook it on low and give it plenty of time for the gravy to thicken.
1lbs. Pork sausage (Jimmy Dean) - comes in a roll
Cook the sausage well in a large skillet. When completely browned, add 3/4 - 1 cup of flour. Do not drain the grease first, that is what adds the flavor. Allow the sausage and flour mixture to brown for about 5 minutes, stirring very frequently. Turn stove to medium - low heat. Add milk (2% or whole). It will probably take about 6 cups total, may be more. Add about 2 cups at a time, stir well. Once you've added all six cups, allow it to cook on med-low until thickened. If it gets too thick, add a little more milk. Be sure to stir it frequently. Salt and pepper to taste.
Buy the Pillsbury homestyle biscuits, bake as directed.
If you like it spicy, you can use hot sausage. I will use one of each when I make it for my family, but I am cooking for 6.

Start by using whatever meat it is you are using, like sausage, which most people use for theirs. After you have cooked up however much you are wanting in your gravy, you keep all the grease in there and add some shortening...about 1/4 cup or so....now melt that down in there and add some flour...Just enough to make it slightly thick in there but not too thick, kinda like baby food consistency. Now pour in the milk you will be using....It takes quite a bit but don't put too much in at first...you can always add more if it starts thickening up too much on you. Making biscuits and gravy may take you a couple times until you get the right amount of everything put in there. You just cook it up until its boiled and it's done. Now for biscuits I make some at home using 2 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 cup shortening cut into it, a pinch of salt and 1/2 cup milk....Then just drop them on the pan and bake. Hope you enjoy!

I did try biscuits and gravy while I was in the states and thoroughly enjoyed them. The biscuits were out or a tin though.
Coming from England though hearing about the dish always makes me giggle as what we call biscuits is very different from America, the gravy's slightly different too. Somehow I don't think dunking a Rich Tea and a pot of Bisto is going to be quite the same thing!

This is really easy. Hope you like them.
1 1/2 cups Bisquick mix
1/2 cup heavy cream or milk
Preheat oven to 375
Mix both ingredients together with a fork. Press the mixture together and shape into a ball. This is a dry dough...do not be alarmed. Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut dough in half lengthwise and then across making 4 triangular looking pieces of dough. Place on greased baking sheet and bake until puffed and golden.
Gravy
Melt 3 tbsp. of butter over medium high heat. Add 3 tbsp. of flour and stir until the mixture reaches a brown color. Add 1 1/2 cups of milk and stir with a whisk to rid the gravy of lumps. Add salt and pepper to taste. You can also add sausage links or browned bulk sausage to the gravy and ladle over biscuits.

are you cooking for you or more? any way try to start small: Heat on stove two table spoons vegetable oil, mix in one table spoons of flour mix constant with a whisk until it starts to brown, then constantly stir in milk or water until it thickens to your liking...poor over biscuits.
