Would somebody do me a favor and post a recipe here for a simple white cake? I'd like to cook one for my girlfriend's birthday, but I think if I use "Betty Crocker's Super-Moist White" it will kind of take the romance out of it.

So it's gotta be your simple, basic cake: how does one cook one? All I'd like to do is add some frosting and some candles.

I have a few cookbooks that have recipes for cakes, but they always complicate the issue by adding something complicated or unusual to the cake.

So if somebody would please tell me how to cook a simple, no-frills, basic cake, please!

There are alot of them out there, so I was hoping somebody around here had a good one. I need one that's easy and that I can do in a few minutes before I head off to classes in the morning.

I seem to always burn things such as chicken steak eggs pancakes. I start with the pan greased but that cooks off pretty quickly. Or after I've turned the chicken a couple times it starts to burn. I can get a few good pancakes out and then they start to burn. If I try putting more pam or whatever on it that burns and makes it worse. Am I turning the stove up too hot? It seems if I turn it down things cook really slowly and sometimes still burn bc they have to stay on so long. What am I doing wrong?

when i try to fold in the egg whites when i'm making a chocolate mousse, the chocolate won't fully incorporate into it. i keep trying, but there still seems to be little specks of chocolate and egg whites that you can see. in other words, it isn't smooth. (and it deflates when i fold it too much)

The apple pie was served at a dinner party and the host wouldn't give up her recipe. It was on a dough crust and consisted of thinly sliced apples, about nine layers, and was sugary in texture as there was no 'sauce' like what you see with baked apply pies.
How do you bake apples to be 'dry' but still moist and layered with what? Topped with Cinnamin ice-cream, it was DELICIOUS!

I just made up a batch of homeade chicken potpies, they turned out great. I would like to make up another batch and freeze them so my fiancee can just pop them in the oven at a later date. Do I bake them at all before freezing or do I put them together and freeze with raw dough? If baked before freezing, do I bake them all the way?
