Drop into boiling water for one 1/2 min. If you leave it in the husk you can freeze it without boiling it.

I think you could freeze it uncooked, but we used to have great luck with a method of cooking it, immediately slicing it off the cob, putting it into ziplock baggies and freezing it. It stayed good for years (more than 10, in cases!) and was delicious and flavorful every time. I think that removing the kernals from the cob was important to keeping the flavor locked in the kernal. I would be worried about the frozen cob method's flavor.

For it to be safe you have to. To kill the enzymes, the corn must be blanched - put in boiling water for a few minutes, then immediately immersed in very cold water to stop the cooking. Dry off, then freeze.

A food saver machine works best because it takes out the air so you don't have ice crystals. I like removing the husk, rubbing butter on it and putting salt on before I seal them. You can boil them in the bag.
If you don't have a food sealer, a freezer bag is okay. You don't have to cook it before freezing.

It's called "blanching" .. do it for about 2 minutes in boiling water. Place in cold water immediately after to cool. Then store in airtight bags to prevent freezer-burn.

One way to do it is to put it through the HOT RINSE cycle on the dishwasher - NO DETERGENT. it basically blanches the corn and then you can put it in freezer lock bags.

no, don't cook it first. just clean the cornsilk off of it & definately don't put any water on it. water will make it mushy. i usually put 4 ears in each freezer bag & put in freezer.

You just have to freeze it, you don't even have to clean it first, the shucks will protect the kernals from freezer burn.
