I dont know if I should wear a long formal dress or a short cocktail dress? I dont want to wear pants even if its freezing outside.

my fiance and i are debating what to wear to our reception. we're getting married in vegas on the Dec 27th and returning to have our reception on the 30th.

in our wedding, we decided that i'm wearing a white formal evening gown (not a wedding dress, but one i can wear again) and he's wearing a charcoal colored suit.

we don't know whether to wear our wedding clothes, or me wear a cocktail dress and him a suit, or what we should wear.

help!

My husband and I were recently married ( Sept. 1). We have not sent our pictures to family yet. We are planning on a photo card for our Holiday card this year, with a wedding photo on it. We agree that that would be a good idea.

But, my husband wants the caption to read

" Merry 'Married' Christmas Love, The Smiths "

It is kindda cute. But is it so cute that it is annoying?

Just looking for opinions.

I'm getting personalized MMs for our wedding favors. The container I've bought for the MMs are going to hold alot more MMs then what I had thought, so I'm looking for another candy that would taste good with MMs, be around the same size as MMs, and look okay with silver and lilac MMs!!
All suggestions are appreciated!
Thank you in advance!! :)

My older sister is engaged! I'm so happy for her & he is a great guy. We are diff as night & day tho. She didn't want to have bridesmaids, which was fine by me. Well now she changed her mind & has asked a friend to be her MOH. That didn't bother me--but now she has asked my cousin's child to be a flower girl (who we only see at Christmas) & another cousin to do the guest book. I am very upset at this. I told my mom that asking cousins & cousins once removed to be in the wedding instead of your only sister is an extreme slight & I am very hurt.

I was married about 2 years ago & my sister was my bridesmaid--but due to her nature, I didn't have her as my MOH. On average she is 3 hours later to every big event & has missed graduations, Christmases, and most birthdays. She turned it around & was actually a great help to me. Since then she's straightened her life around--but I know she felt slighted. Is this merely to get back at me?

Or is my mom right to say it's No Big Deal??

I say inexpensive because I don't want the person to think I am trying to buy their affections. This could even be an action. I am running out of ideas.

You know the saying "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride"? Well, I'm having problems dealing with the fact that I'm never a bridesmaid and always a guest.

I don't want to sound conceited here, but my friends always tell me how I'm such a good friend to them and how much they appreciate me helping them whenever they need it.

I've helped so many of my friends when it came time for their weddings and have probably spent more than thier bridesmaids when the brides asked me if I could help with this and that. I even planned one of my friend's bachelorette parties for her because she couldn't trust her MOH with it!

A good friend of mine told me this weekend that she and her boyfriend of 8 years are getting married this Friday and having a big ceremony next year. She's as sweet as she can be and I can't see her asking me for too much, but once again I'm not a bridesmaid (the groom-to-be has already asked my boyfriend to be one of his groomsmen) and I can’t help but feel like this will be the same thing all over again because it happens every time!

How to I deal with this jealousy?

Let me give you some background info first. I attended a church for 15 years. During that time I volunteered endlessly and gave of myself, often sacrificing family time to do so. I had few needs but there came a time my mother passed away, not one friend came from church. Just the retired part time pastor and his wife. My actual pastor did not call, visit or attend the funeral. It was very sad not to receive that support.

I forgave and moved forward. Then a year ago my husband was seriously ill, needed more than one surgery. I put in prayer requests and not once did my pastor call. One of his associates did but they never followed up and eventually they left the church. I put in another prayer request when things got worse and my pastor never phoned me.

During this time I was volunteering at the church every week, he would see me and walk right on by. A friend commented on how disgusted she was by him and his behavior and she and her husband left the church.

It’s a unique and rare privilege to be able to give a best man speech because you have to squeeze a lifetimes worth of memories onto a small piece of paper and balance it just right to make the most perfect and enjoyable speech.
So I hope your not all expecting much!
For anyone who doesn’t know me my name is (My Name), I’m (Grooms Name) little brother and for everyone who does know me you have my condolences!
It’s an honor and a pleasure to be (Grooms Name) Best Man,
May I first say that there is no words to describe how beautiful (Brides Name) looks today and I’m happy to have her as my new sister in law, and I must also complement the bridesmaids because they are looking great, and there’s a man who needs no introduction, he’s a man who is as good as the come, he’s an inspiration to most of his friends, he’s smart, loyal, got a very witty sense of humor, he’s charismatic and he’s very attractive the women just adore him. But enough about me because this is (Grooms Name) day so I have made a large list of (Grooms Name) accomplishments in life in honor of the occasion!
Now tradition would dictate that this speech impart would be an opportunity to bring up embarrassing moments in (Grooms Name) past in front of all his family and friends, but I’ve got to tell you I’m above that.
I’m not going to tell you about the time when (Grooms Name) came in my room and closed the door behind him which didn’t actually have a handle on it and at the time (because our Dad earlier on the day had been painting the doors) which meant we where locked in together, also Mum & Dad where at a parents evening meeting one of (Grooms Name) college tutors so she could tell them how brilliant and smart he is and as proof of that he came up with the ingenious idea of how to get us out the room, he suggested I jump out the window and try to land on top of the conservatory roof, lets just say his plan never worked out. That would be out of line for me to mention that moment.
So instead to give you all a brief insight into what it has been like to spend a lifetime with (Grooms Name), I am going to tell you all a little bit about life in the 80’s to early 90’s, a time when many of the guys had Afro’s and mustaches and even some girls, Video Cameras were huge and TV’s were tiny and Mum’s always made their kids wear matching outfits no matter how annoying it was (and that fad still hasn’t gone out of fashion)!
One of the highlights of that time had to be going on holiday to the haven camps. It had everything dancing, games, talent contests for the kids and fancy dress contests. Talking about the fancy dress contests it would be wrong of me not to show you all (Grooms Name) in his prime so if you would all please allow me to unveil the photo (Show Photo). I would just like to mention also I won (Show Trophy)!
But on a serious note now (Grooms Name) has always been there and supported me, something that I am sure he will do for his beautiful new wife, (Brides Name).
He’s hard working and affectionate to the ones he loves most.
He has achieved a lot and become a great man and I’m sure he will tell all of you one of his greatest achievements is marrying (Brides Name), they reflect each others best quality’s and I love you both and I wish you both all the happiness in the world.

What is a fair price to give our friend who video taped our wedding? He expects no reward, just did it as a nice gesture for us, but I would like to give him something for his trouble. The video turned out great (for an amateur) and it's so nice to have a memory of that special day especially since it was just a whirlwind of activity--I hardly remember a thing!

I am trying not to let it bother me, but it's getting old. We have both asked her to stop with the communication. But she keeps on talking trash. SHort of changing our phone numbers and emails, what can we do? I want to get through this planning without the added stress.

I am getting married in Oct 2008. We have a price quote of approx $1000 for beer/wine to be served to our 80 guests. My fiancee and I are thinking we can save money by purchasing our own beer/wine for the event. I am wondering how many cases of beer and how many bottles of wine would serve 80 guests.

What happened for your shower? Did your MOH plan games or no games?

My MOH and Future Mother In law will be planning my bridal shower up here in the town I current live in.

My MOH wants to play games, my future mother in law doesn't care but her sister is helping to plan with food and what not (used to be a caterer).

She asked me "Do you really want games?? Do people REALLY still do that? ugh" I told her the last two I'd been to did games.

She asked "Did the guests that won the gifts give them back to the bride?" I answered "no why?"

Well it's just the way it's supposed to be, the gifts that the guests won go back to the bride because thats the way it is, it's something the bride can use...

is this true?

I mean i guess I could care less about games but I know my MOH wants them..but future aunt does not... lol

What are some ideas to do at bridal showers if there aren't games?

I know my MOH will ask me....

As alot of you know, my husband and I are throwing a big party for our 10th anniversary next year. We had originally planned to just kind of re-do the reception part in the way we would have liked to do it on our wedding day, but now we are wondering if maybe we should go ahead and do a quick renewal of our vows before the cocktail hour. So my question is, honestly, what does everyone think of vow renewals at such a short interval of time between our original vows. Keep in mind that we did have the white wedding 10 years ago. We are stuck going back and forth between thinking it would be a fun idea and a pointless one because we have had a happy marriage and dont exactly need to reaffirm our vows to eachother, but we also just hated everything about our wedding day (except the actual getting married part) that in that respect we think it would be fun to do it over our way. So what does everyone honestly think, we arent stuck one way or another so I would really appreciate any opinions.

4 Letter Words

Please excuse the rough language in the following story... I would have deleted them, but the story wouldn't be the same.

A young couple got married and went on their honeymoon. When they got back, the bride immediately called her mother.

"Well," said her mother, "so how was the honeymoon?"

Oh, mama," she replied, "the honeymoon was wonderful! So romantic..."

Suddenly she burst out crying. "But, mama, as soon as we returned, Sam started using the most horrible language -- things I'd never heard before! I mean, all these awful 4-letter words! You've got to take me
home..., "PLEASE MAMA! "

"Sarah, Sarah," her mother said, "calm down! You need to stay with your husband and work this out. Now, tell me, what could be so awful? WHAT
4-letter words?"

"Please don't make me tell you, mama," wept the daughter, "I'm so embarrassed, they're just too awful! COME GET ME, PLEASE!!"

"Darling, baby, you must tell me what has you so upset. Tell your mother these horrible 4-letter words!"

Sobbing, the bride said, "Oh, Mama...., he said words like: dust, wash, iron, and cook..."

"I'll pick you up in twenty minutes," said the mother.

Hi all, I got a good and lovely girl friend from Tamil nadu. Acording to their culture parents will select the groom for the girl. She is obese.

Her parents said to her that "No groom will like a over-weight girl. We won't look for groom until you reduce your weight!". They are also not ready to pay for medical therapies. But they keep on torturing her. Leave that, I don't want to discuss whether she should reduce weight or not (as i know being over-weight will cause health problems and she should definetly reduce weight).

Only thing I want to know is "Don't you guys (even one of u) like to marry a over-weight but beautiful by heart and physical girl???"
